TRADITIONAL PRODUCTION
⚙
Electro-Plating
The IMR process already ends after theinjection process and the part comes out
fully designed. With traditional techniques, the electro-plating could follow afterwards.
Injection
When manufacturing a plastic part, thewhole process starts with the inj ection, once the mould is ready to use. This isvalid for both manufacturing methods.
Spraying
Same is valid for the spraying process.IMR already includes complex patternsand physical properties of the texture
directly after injection. IMR is eco-friendly.
Imprintin
While in the same time alreadydesigned parts are manufacturIMR technology, the tradition
still didn’t finish one part. IMR

With more than 10 years of experience inthe IMD (In-Mould Decoration) sector, IMRcan provide various solutions. Our coreIMR technology is much more capablethan traditional IMD solutions such as IMLor IMF. Moreover we’re also experts inmould making as well as optical parts andtherefore provide a turnkey IMD solution.
OUR FOILSOLUTIONS
IMRIn-Mould Decoration by Roller.
This is our core technology.
ODFOn-demand Foil is also a transfer foil
like IMR. ODF fits for customizing.
IMLIn-Mould Labelling is a non transfer foil
solution. It is been rarely used at IMR.
IMFIn-Mould Forming is a non transfer foilsolution. Not used at all by our clients.

The IMR foil can consist of up to 16layers. The foil is being produced withthe gravure print process. Each layerallows to add different physicalattributes to the surface of the product. The base film won’t be transferred to theproduct itself. It only transports all otherlayer compositions for the heat transfer.

While our R&D department designs and develops the mould, ourengineers also develop the foil. This process is taking 4-5 weeks but withour foil solution, we’re able to manufacture parts with complex designrequirements. A typical IMR foil can consist of up to 16 layers and thethickness of each layer amounts to 2 µm.
The special feature of our foil technology is that we can apply differentphysical attributes to each layers. For example haptic elements likemetal touch or electronic touch function. Even fragrance could beapplied to a layer. The biggest advantage is that we can apply manydifferent patterns and haptic function on one surface by simply injectingthe part. With traditional moulding solutions this won’t be possible.

IMR VERSUS TRADITIONAL
FACTS
IMR is starting with higher costs per part, because of the foil development fees. The graph shows clearly that the costwith IMR, when going into high quantity. The reason is quite simple. Parts manufactured with the IMR technology aldesigned after the injection. No spraying, imprinting, interim storage and post processing. Our solution is efficient.

IMR VERSUS TRADITIONAL MANUFACTURING
When comparing traditional manufacturingmethods with our IMR solution, there is a hugedifference in between. One of the main pointswhy international top brands use ourtechnology are design & cost efficiency. In thisexample we would like to show you a pricecomparison based on per part price.

CASE STUDYIMR - IROBOT
COST SAVINGWith IMR technology we were able to improve the design of thenew iRobot Roomba series and save costs by combining severalparts into one. In this example we could combine 3 different partsinto one. This saves a lot of moulding and assembling costs.
SCRATCH RESISTANTThe iRobot Roomba 880 consist of 13 different parts on the front.3 of them were manufactured by IMR technology. The middle platewas manufactured by another manufacturer. The materials are thesame but only our part doesn’t show any scratches in daily use.
