Point of Interest
Pull the hold down bar out and place over your front tire to secure your bicycle on the rack.
Lift your bicycle onto the rack. Position your bike in the slots closest to the vehicle when available.
Before loading your bicycle onto the rack, ensure the rack is pulled down flat and positioned parallel to the ground.
As you lift the metal handle, pull down the bicycle rack.
Fit both the front and back tires into the appropriate slots labeled “front wheel here” and “back wheel here.”
BE VISIBLE & DRESS APPROPRIATELY• By law, bicycles riding at night must have a white headlight in the front visible from at least 500 feet away and a red tail reflector visible in a vehicles low beams from 300 feet away
• Wear bright clothing during the day and reflective clothing at night
• Always wear a hard-shell helmet whenever you ride; fit the helmet so the front is just above the top of the eyebrows
RIDE IN A STRAIGHT LINE• Maintain a car door’s width away from parked cars
• Avoid dodging in between cars
• Watch for parked motorists swinging their doors open
TWO WAYS TO TURN LEFT• 1) Like a pedestrian, ride straight to the far-side crosswalk and walk your bike across
• 2) Like a motorist, signal, move into the left lane and turn left
RIDE ON THE RIGHT
• Ride on the right side of the road, in the same direction as traffic, at a safe distance from the curb and gutter
• Never ride against the flow of traffic
BE ALERT• Watch for cars pulling out and use caution when approaching driveways and parked cars
• Assume that drivers do not see you, and use caution when approaching them
STAY OFF SIDEWALKS• Sidewalks are designed for pedestrians and not for bicyclists who are traveling faster than walking speeds
• Ride where motorists expect you to be
USE HAND SIGNALS• Hand signals communicate with motorists what you intend to do; turns require a hand signal for 100 feet beforehand

LOADING YOUR BICYCLE As the transit vehicle approaches, please have your bicycle ready for loading. Remove water bottles, pumps or any loose items that might fall off when the bus is in motion. Alert the bus operator before stepping out in the street to load your bicycle onto the rack.
UNLOADING YOUR BICYCLE For safety reasons, it is very important to tell the bus operator before unloading your bicycle. Riders are responsible for the loading and unloading of their bicycles. Sorry, no tricycles, tandem or motorized bicycles can be placed on racks.
BIKE TRAFFIC SIGNS
Before riding on our roadways, cyclists should familiarize themselves with the different signs and pavement markings used throughout the valley to designate bicycle facilities and raise awareness among motorists of the presence cyclists.
Bicycle racks are located inside rapid transit vehicles and can hold up to two bicycles.

SOUTHERN NEVADA
Bike Map
TRAVELING AROUND THE VALLEY Getting around by bicycle continues to get easier with the growing number of bicycle lanes, routes and shared-use paths throughout the region. The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), in cooperation with member entities, community partners and citizens, has made great strides towards making bicycling more viable and convenient as a mobility choice. Currently, there are more than 85 miles of bicycle routes, 389 miles of bicycle lanes and 403 miles of shared-use paths in the metropolitan area with the addition of many more planned for the future.
SHARE THE ROAD Bicyclists have the same rights and the same responsibilities when operating in the roadway as motorists. Cyclists must ride to the right unless it is unsafe to do so, they are preparing to turn left or are able to match the speed of traffic. Cyclists must obey all traffic signs and use hand signals for turns and stops. Signs and pavement markings are used throughout the valley to designate bicycle facilities and raise awareness among motorists of the presence of cyclists.
BICYCLE WITH TRANSIT Bicycling is a great way to access the valley’s transit system and cross long distances in true comfort. All RTC buses are equipped with bicycle racks, most with room for three. The RTC’s public transit system carries more than 50,000 bike trips each month. There is no additional cost to bring your bicycle along for the ride.
CLUB RIDE Club Ride Commuter Services is the RTC’s free program for employers and commuters to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. Through a variety of incentives including a monthly rewards program, membership benefits such as the discounted EZ Rider Transit Pass and Guaranteed Ride Home programs, and exclusive discounts available at a variety of local merchants, Club Ride encourages commuters to try new ways to get to work including walking, bicycling, riding transit, carpooling and more. We invite you to be a part of the movement. Learn more at rtcsnv.com/Club_Ride or by emailing [email protected].
