CARDIAC ARREST occurs when electrical impulses in the heart
become chaotic and cause the heart to stop beating.
Cardiac arrest is an electrical problem.
HEART ATTACK occurs when blood �ow to
the heart is blocked. Restoring blood �ow is the only way to prevent
irreversible damage to the
heart muscle.
Often the person collapses, and becomes unresponsive to gentle shaking and shouting, and stops breathing.

People often use these heart terms interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Understand the
difference and act fast at the �rst sign to help save lives!
Remember to call 911 �rst in any medical emergency. Not everyone experiences cardiac arrest or a heart attack in the same way. Listen to your symptoms. Get help fast.
