Founded in 1991, Sustainable Seattle is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainability in the Central
Puget Sound, nationally, and internationally.
MissionSustainable Seattle advances an
integrated vision of urban sustainability by measuring progress, building diverse
coalitions and undertaking key initiatives.
• Sustainable Seattle’s history:– worldwide leader in sustainability indicators
based on participatory action research. – Cutting edge work, recognized by the United
Nations Centre for Human Settlements with an “Excellence in Indicators Best Performance”
– held to be the first "Sustainable Community" organization.
– incubator of today’s sustainability leaders: Richard Conlin, Alan AtKission, Vicki Robins, Ben Packard and Sean Schmidt

forward once again– two intense years of market survey and
program formation lays the foundation for our new programs
