In your classroom there’s a …. Ghandi, Violeta, Hurtado, or Luther King. ARE WE LISTENING?
What About Us? Our parents probably didn’t finish school but
became professionals while on the job; They kept their positions for 10, 20, 30, 40 years or
more; They made sure WE went to school (why us?); Mom & dad met through close friends or family; While dating, they would listen to a “vitrola” or the
radio; They probably never traveled to other cities or
countries; They also changed their world: THROUGH US.

Integrating Technology in our lessons Does my activity have a purpose? Does it foster life skills? Does it serve a mission my students may encounter in life? Do my activities improve their understading of a global
world? Do the tasks suggested enhance my students’ critical
thinking? Do the tasks designed reinforce a sense of community? Do my activities go beyond the classroom (do they get
parents, classmates, friends, family members, etc involved when / as appropriate?)
Do my tasks serve my curriculum? Can they be assessed in terms of observable competencies? Can I give “just-in-time” or later feedback to my students so
they can do better next time?
