Dear Parish Family,
What a glorious Holy Week we experienced here at St. Bartholomew! Jesus left us the holy Sacrifice of the Mass to allow us to participate in the graces and fruits of His life, death and resurrection. It is the embodiment of God’s love that is given for us and to us, so that our souls may be permeated with the life of God, giving eternal meaning to our temporal lives.
One of the things that made our celebrations so wonderful was that we welcomed into our family of faith our newest members! At the Easter vigil Mass we had nine people join the Catholic Church: Abby & Scott Durrance and their 3 children, Maxwell, Pearce and Macy; Trissa Durastanti and her 2 sons, Dayton and Jacob; and Beverly Howard. Two of which were previously baptized, made their profession of faith and were received into the Church (Scott and Beverly) and the others were all baptized into the Church. Six of them were confirmed and received their first Holy Communion (Abby, Scott, Max, Trissa, Dayton and Beverly). The grace of God was flowing that night!
Thank you to the many people who enhanced our celebrations during Holy Week! Bill & Jill Byerley with their care of the altar, Yvonne Gruber and Ashleigh Bailey with the floral arrangements, those who served the altar and Deacon Kenny (always at my side). Our choir did a great job, with a special thanks to Jim Krauss (who sung the Exsultet) and our director (Erin Faulk). All of their hard work and many hours of preparation were beautifully reflected in their praise of God during our celebrations.
May our daily lives be an unequivocal gift to God, suitably reflecting the eternal gift of Himself to us that we just celebrated!
In Christ, our Risen Lord,
Father James Dean
