Introduction
Drawframe
Drawframe is a very critical machine in the spinning process. It's influence onquality, especially on evenness is very big. If drawframe is not set properly, it will
also result in drop in yarn strength and yarn elongation at break. The faults in the
sliver that come out of drawframe cannot be corrected. It will pass into the yarn.
Drafting System:
The Factors that affect the Yarn Quality are
No of draw frame passages
The total draft
Break draft
Gauge between Rollers
No of doublings
Grams/meter of sliver fed to the drawframe
Fibre length
Fibre fineness
Delivery speed
Type of drafting
Type of autoleveller
Autoleveller settings
So Back Draft & Gauge have very much importance when other parameters are constant.
And change in the Parameters will sure affect the quality of the yarn.

Procedure followed for the observation:
First selected a particular Finisher Draw Frame (RSB-951), No.2 and collected Six cans
each containing cotton Sliver. The samples were consisting of 100% cotton of hank
step 1
The back draft in RSB 951 was set to 1.28
Ten cans were filled each of 500 meter sliver at 1.28 brk draft
Now the U% RSB-951 sliver was tested/checked in R&D lab
These cans were placed for supply material for a particular ROTOR (R1) -2 in mill-4 on rotor no-
3,7,11,33,75,111,123,151,155,157
Ten Packages were formed from 10 cans containing 500 m RSB sliver
Hank = 10sKW
These packages were collected for further test
Step 2
In the same manner RSB brk draft is changed to 1.16
Again 10 cans of RSB was collected and U% was checked

Again the cans were placed on the same ROTOR m/c and on the same rotors of the
previous sample (rotor no-3,7,11,33,75,111,123,151,155,157 )
Ten Packages were formed from 10 cans containing 500 m RSB sliver
Hank = 10s KW
All these observations were made on the same particular machine (Finisher Draw Frame ,
ROTOR-2)
The samples ( ROTOR yarn) thus made at different stages on same m/c and same rotors
are tested on Uster Tester-3 in R& D Lab at the Mill for U%, CSP, COUNT, RKM, CV%,
Thin Places, Thick Places, Neps and Hairiness.
The results obtained are examined and analyzed on the basis of U% and Imperfection
Index.
