Spring Ah, Yes! It’s Lovely
Ah yes, I’ll say it’s lovely
This Spring you write about
It is so very lovely
Makes me want to shout!
To all the things awakening
Won’t you just hurry up
You pre y purple violet
You dazzling bu ercup!
Ah, yes I’d say it’s lovely
For this Springs we’ve waited long
For Mother Nature’s awakening
For robin’s old sweet song!

Pastor’s Pen Gra tude, Joy and Generosity.
A week ago I was having brunch in the beau ful main dinning room aboard the “Empress of the Sea.” Mary and I were on our belated 30th anniversary trip and were par cularly enjoying the wonderful food. We were placed at our table with four other people; a couple from New Jersey and two young ladies from California.
As we introduced ourselves, Jim from New Jersey started sharing his disappointment with the ship, the food, the service, the pool, the entertainment and so on. I didn’t agree with Jim’s assess-ment. The food was wonderful, the service excep onal, the ship was in mate and the entertain-ment enjoyable.
How could each of us see things so differently? I was reminded of our focus as a congrega on in 2019: Gra tude. The path to joy in life comes through gra tude. You and I will never experience true joy in life if we don’t start with gra tude.
What we see in the New Testament is that thanksgiving becomes a way of life for Chris ans—in the good mes and the bad. To give thanks includes praising God for who He is and what he has done for you, and it also involve a general expression of gra tude through generosity.
As we are growing in gra tude I have been encouraged to see our prayer list change week by week. God is answering prayers and our worship is acknowledging this. However, I would remind you that gra tude is ul mately expressed in generosity. God loves the joyful giver.
Prayerfully consider your giving as we enter the Easter season. There will be a special offering for our general budget on Easter Sunday. This is much needed as we have seen a short fall in weekly giving during the first quarter of 2019. The ministries of Trinity need our support in order to con nue at the level they are at. May God bless you and may we express that in our worship and generosity.

Following God’s lead Jazz musician Thomas Dorsey traveled an unlikely road to be-come the “father of black gos-pel music.” At age 11, he dropped out of school to be a vaudeville performer and blues pianist. While Dorsey recovered from a nervous breakdown at age 21, his mother urged him to serve the Lord with his tal-ents. It took several years, but the musician committed to composing spiritual songs — re-jected by many mainstream churches as “the devil’s mu-sic.” In 1932, after Dorsey’s wife and infant son died during child-birth, he channeled his grief into the piano, writing “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Known to be a favorite song of Martin Luther King Jr., it ends with these lyrics: “Through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light. Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.”
