Instructions:1. Cut the bath towels into strips using a cutting mat and
rotary cutter (we made ours 3 inches wide).
2. Line up 3 strips. Cut off the border of the towels, if
necessary. Pin and sew together. Remove the pin.
3. Fold the sides of 1 strip in toward the center, then fold in
half. Pin to secure and repeat down the
entire length of the strip. Repeat with the other 2 strips.
4. Braid the 3 strands, removing the pins as you go. When
you reach the end, sew on more strips and continue until
you run out. Sew the end to secure.
5. Twist the long braided rope into a coil. Hand sew together
until secure.
Break Down Steps
1. Get three old towels
that you have
permission to cut up.
2. Take a scissors or a
rotary cutter and mat
and cut 3” strips down
the length of each
towel.

the three towels using a
running stitch or a
sewing machine.
Break Down Steps
1. Fold towel toward the
center.
2. Fold the towel in half
one more time.

the way down the
length and for all three

Break Down Steps 1. Braid the folded strips
while removing the pins.
2. When you reach the end,
pin on another strip of
towel of the same color.
3. Pin all three on, and sew
across using the hand
needle or sewing machine.
I used a hair tie to keep my
braid intact.
4. Repeat the folding, pinning
braiding steps till the end
of your towels.
Break Down Steps 1. When finished, coil the
braids around in a circular
pattern. You may have to
pin them together to
secure them in place.
2. Take a hand needle and
thread and create a knot
on the outer corner of the
rug. Stitch a running stitch
through the length of the
rug until secure. Repeat
until finished.
