Concept already has Action Sports Industry credibility through prestigious ISPO BrandNew Finalist 2013 Award, selected by
International Jury of Sports Industry Representatives. Previous awardees include Nixon, GoPro, Penny & Skins. Award is
transferable to Licensee for packaging/marketing.
Received signi"cant positive feedback at ISPO tradeshow from Skate Distributors + Retailers + Surf/Skate Festivals. Received
enquiries about potential application of griptape to other boardsports, e.g. Wake/Wakeskate/Snowskate/Scooters.
Global User Trial conducted with very positive results
Can be pre-fabricated as a sheet of ready-to install griptape (no fray), or sold as a kit that the user installs and customizes (fray).
Concept would display well in stores and online with the colourful canvas sheets.
Concept follows proven sports industry trend towards technical fabrics that allow aesthetic variation, which provides marketing
leverage of both form + function, and Patent protection; e.g. lightweight/stretchable/quick-dry boardshorts,
windproof/waterproof/breathable snowboarding outer shells, & abrasion resistant suede for skate shoes.
Pending a successful brand extension into textile skate griptape; creates mainstream market opportunities such as using
griptape hemp textile colorways in range of ‘griptape inspired’ skate-style shoes.
Project Name:FGT Series (Fray Grip Technology)
The ConceptThe Product Concept is the World’s 1st Woven Skateboard Griptape,
designed speci"cally for the hardship of skateboarding. It also adds a
new dimension to grip with the optional Frayed Edge and unlimited
new possibilities in Colour, Weave and Texture because of the woven
Hemp textile base. The product could be pre-fabricated into sheets of
ready-to-attach griptape (like current griptape products). Or, the
product could come in Kit form, with a multitude of installation options.
Intellectual Property Status:International PCT Patent Application (PCT/AU2013/000213) "led 6th
March 2013, claiming priority date of 6th March 2012 from Australian
Provisional Patent Application (2012900856).
Product Development Status:Mature concept, having progressed through multiple working
prototype generations; and having been functionally tested by selected
users during a Global User Trial. Currently seeking Licensee.

"Protects the board, girls wanna touch it ;)"
"Awesome looking product, with a lot of buyer appeal. Lots of customization options is a big factor too = Buy.”
"Looks great. Works well. Really good idea."
“Environmentally friendly. Looks good, 100% "ne for cruising!”
“Fray wearing away on edges - looks really cool. Gives character. And unlike conventional grip, you can just add more grit when it wears o7,
which I love.”
“I could see this on display in my local skateshop, looks great!”
“Extremely di7erent from conventional skate grip. [Positive features are] its ability to reapply grit once it comes o7. Di7erent traction
aggregate grades. Handles !exy boards very well.”
[Positive features are] choice of grit grade. I used some #24 around where I place my feet when sliding, and #60 everywhere else.
“It’s a di7erent, fresh way of gripping up your board, that works the same as normal grip.”
“When I "rst saw the hemp I was really excited to try it out.”
“Installation was awesome. No steps were di>cult. Nothing went wrong.”
“Every day I feel I'd pay a little more. I've decided this is quite subjective to how long you've had it, as it is awesome.”
“It is so original and it de"nitely grabs (mainly) positive feedback with skaters and non skaters alike. I was very generous with the
aggregate, doesn’t look the best but it works a charm and it grips me in well.”
“It has a great earthy feel.”
“Loving the #24 Grit. Locks you in perfectly.”
“Awesome grip.”
“Its very ‘indie’.”
“[Barefoot] felt good, very seducing on the feet.”
“Sharp edges on longboards always get smashed to shit, I was really happy that the hemp protected my board when it got !ipped on it's
back.”
“Great, I love it.”
“Normal grip wears too fast. [This one] hasn't appeared to do so yet, therefore much prefer [this grip]. Makes my board look hip.”
“Thank you so much for letting me participate in this opportunity. Everyone thinks the hemp is sick. This product should take o7 like
wild"re. You should give one of these packs to a famous skater to get your company out there.”
“I used no traction aggregate, because I wanted to keep the soft hemp feel, grippyness was sacri"ced, but not by much, as the improved
ability to skate barefoot was enhanced.”
