Blank Preparation1. Cuttheblankabout1/8"longerthantheTubetoallow for“blow-out”orholeelongation.

2. Drilltheblankwitha14mmdrillbitataspeedof900to 1200RPM.

3. PolishtheTubewith220gritsandpapertoroughentheTube forbetteradhesion.Thiscanbedonebyhandorbychucking itinadrillpressorportablehanddrill.

4. PreparetogluewithmediumCA(cyanoacrylate)glueor two-partfastdryingepoxy.

5. ApplythegluetotheoutsideoftheTubewithaliberal amountaroundtheendthatisinsertedfirst.Donotapply gluetotheinsideoftheblank,asthiswillcausetheglueto getinsidetheTubeandruinit.

6. InserttheTubewithatwistingmotionintotheblankuntil theTubeisequidistantbetweenbothendsoftheblank. Wipeoffanyexcessglueontheendsoftheblank.Allow thegluetodry.

7. Usingabarreltrimmer,disk,orbeltsander,trimtheends oftheblankuntilyoucanjustseethebrightmetalendsof theTube.Thefaceoftheendsmustbeperpendiculartothe Tubeandparallelwitheachother.Itisimperativetomatch thelengthofthetrimmedblanktotheoriginallengthofthe TubeandthattheinsideoftheTubeiscleanandfreeof anyglue.

Turning the Blank1. Assembletheblankonthemandrelwiththebushings placedoneithersideoftheblank.Eachbushinghasastep thatisdesignedtobeinsertedintotheTubeforstability whileturning,astheinnerdiameteroftheTubeislargerthan themandrel.Notethatallofthebushingsarethesamesize. Note:EitherWoodSpacersorextraBushingsmaybeused tofilltheextraspaceonthemandrel.

2. Tightenthetailstockandthentightenthemandrelnutthat holdstheblank.Donotover-tightenthetailstockormandrel nutasthismaycausethemandreltoflex,causingtheblank togooutofround.

3. Turntheblanktothedesiredshape,makingsurethatthe surfacesnexttothebushingsareturnedtothesame diameterasthebushings.

4. Afterturning,sandthesurfacesinprogressivestepsof 220,400,600,and1000grit.Ifahigherfinishisdesired, micromeshsandpapermaybeused.

5. Applythefinishofchoiceandpolish.

6. Removetheblankfromthemandrel.

1. PresstheCapCouplerintooneendoftheTube, chamferedendfirst,untilthetopoftheCapCoupler isflushwiththeTube.

2. PresstheCapintotheotherendoftheTube.

3. CarefullystretchtheO-Ringoverthethreadedendof theRingCap.RolltheO-RingontotheRingCapuntil itpassesthethreadedportion.

4. ThreadtheRingCapintotheCapCoupler.

5. ThreadtheKeyRingthroughtheRingCap.
