When Was It Established?

O The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, signed into law by President Bush on Jan. 8, 2002,

O It was a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the central federal law in pre-collegiate education.

The MissionO Designed to drive

students to achieve higher standards and to hold states and schools more accountable for student progress.

O NCLB also ensures that students in every public school achieves important learning goals while being educated in safe classrooms by well-prepared teachers.

Law that Established Program

O NCLB was a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

O Elementary and Secondary Education Act- passed in 1965, and emphasizes equal access to education and establishes high standards and accountability.

require that students in all schools must meet or exceed state standards for education. teachers and schools don't agree on the requirements because not all students are capable of reaching the required levels.
