HIGHLIGHTS

Disseminated and required all Junior and Senior students of

both Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Technology

and Engineering students to undergo MOOC Training as part

of the requirement to the subject they are currently enrolled.

Likewise, required as well all students to register and use the

Beehive App

Beehive Accelerator program was officially launched last

March 13, 2019 during Mapua University Week

HIGHLIGHTS

BEEHIVE Accelerator room is up and running, ready for use by

students upon coordination with the Program Chair

The Accelerator room is fully functional with its own internet

connectivity to support online activities

Arranged tables and chairs with PCs that are set-up to

accommodate a maximum of 6 per group

Conducted a pitch in demo in Mapua - Intramuros where one

group was able to secure an investment for their product

Technopreneurship Day: Forum and Innovation Contest

June 2018

• Mapua University’s School of IE-EMG celebrated it’s 2018 IE-EMG Week with the theme “Innovation and Technovation: A Re-Imagineering Approach to Sustainable Value Creation” last June 4-9, 2018 at the Intramuros campus.

• Part of the celebration was a Technopreneurship Day co-sponsored by the BEEHIVE Mapua project team with guests from IdeaSpace Foundation and select business start-ups held on June 6, 2018.

• Morning activities include a seminar on “Essentials of Business Start-ups” facilitated by Mr. John Carlo Pullan, Marketing Communications Strategist of IdeaSpace Foundation and a forum/discussion on experiences and struggles of business accelerators and real-life entrepreneurs operating in the Philippines.

• Guests speakers were Ms. Goldy Yancha (IdeaSpace), andentrepreneurs Engr. Maria Elaine Perez - De Velez (Front Learners),Mr. Jan Oscar King (Cleaning Lady PH) and Mr. David BhowieCabawatan and Mr. Vince Apostol (SIAM-AE Production Company).Students and faculty members participated during the forum andraised their respective questions to the speakers.

• The afternoon activityhighlighted the week’scelebration as studentsshowcased their talents andcreativity during the pitchingdemo competition.

• Ten (10) groups from different departments/colleges presented their innovative product ideas/business concepts which were judgedby Ms. Goldy Yancha, Mr. John Carlo Pullan (IdeaSpace), Mr. Jan Oscar King (Cleaning Lady PH), and Mr. MarthinsonVillanueva (BEEHIVE Mapua team member)

The Mapua University BEEHIVE project team, together with IdeaSpace Foundation, organized a formal launching event for the University’s BEEHIVE Accelerator Program last March 13, 2019 at the AVR 3 of Intramuroscampus. The eventwas one of thehighlights of the2019 MapuaUniversity Weekwith the theme“Excellence.Innovation. Value”

The program was participated bymore than 100 attendees thatinclude faculty, students, andguests. Dr. Delia Senoro, BEEHIVEMapua Team Leader, delivered theopening remarks and presentedthe BEEHIVE project details.

Mary Christine Tomas utilized the accelerator programinfographics and presented the program mechanics/guidelines.

Ms. Brenda Valerio of IdeaSpace Foundation delivered a short talk about their organization’s experiences as an incubator and accelerator in the Philippines. She also gave insights on examples of current marketable businesses and ideas.

The other guests speakers were two of the winners of IdeaSpace’s startup competition. Mr. Edel Alva, also a Mapuaalumnus, founded Wizher, Inc. Mr. Alva narrated his startup journey and challenges.

Ms. Cherry Murillon is one of the founders of Antipara Exploration, Inc., the sole provider of underwater coastal mapping, assessment and 3D visualization services in the Philippines. She also presented their team’s journey and difficulties in creating the business.

After the speakers testimonies and presentations, students and faculty were given the time to raise questions.

The program was concluded by Dr. Marthinson Villanueva and certificates of appreciation were given to the guests speakers.
