Olive-Net is a multidisciplinary consortium gathered with expertise in olive chemistry and biology,

consisting of academic facilities and industrial players from EU & associated countries as well as

universities fromThird countries. Itsparticipants represent thewholevalue chain: starting fromolive-

derived rawmaterial, to active ingredient production, to pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetic

end-products’commercialization.Thegoaloftheresearchprojectistheexplorationandexploitationof

olive bioactive substances from the Olive tree (Olea europaea) for the development of novel

cosmeceuticals,nutraceuticalsandpharmaceuticals.Productsandside-productsoftheolivetreesuchas

oliveoil,edibleolivefruits,olivemillwasteandolivetreeleaves,willbesubjectedtoaseriesofstate-of-

the-art extraction and isolation cascades in order to provide extracts, enriched fractions and isolated

compounds of high purity. All active ingredients will be identified and characterized with advanced

analyticaltechniquesaswellasassessedfortheirsafetyandpharmacologicaleffectswithinvitroandin

vivoassays.Withinthisproject,corescientificmultidisciplinaryknowledgefromdifferentresearchareas

willbe integratedcreatingvaluable synergies.An important contribution therefor is thewell-balanced

schemeofresearcher’ssecondmentsbetweenuniversitiesandenterprises.Expertisewillbetransferred

by means of the seconded researchers training in environments with different research orientation

where complimentary skills are required. Olive-Net aspires to create a successful model promoting

researchers’ competences and create long-lasting collaboration and synergies between Industry and

Academia.Thisinnovativenetworkthatjoinsfocusedscientificresearchwithdirectmarketrequirements

fits perfectly to the ALNuMed portfolio. ALNuMed as research-intensive company that develops

spectroscopybasedanalytical solutions forqualityassuranceandcontrolof foodandnaturalproducts
