WHATISCOMMUNICATION? The word communication is derived from Latin words
communicare or cummunico both means toshare. It is a process of exchange of ideas, opinions and
as a means that individuals and organizations sharemeaning with another. In other words, it refers to thetransmission and reception of facts, ideas, feelings
or attitudes, thoughts, opinions. It is interaction withpeople for exchange of facts, ideas, feelings orattitudes, thoughts and opinions.
Communication brings people together by establishingcommonness among people. It is a social need for anindividual and life blood for an organization.
In simple words Communication is the process ofsending and receiving message. Employee communicates 75% of their working time and
an organization communicates 90% of its working time.

BARRIERSTOEFFECTIVECOMMUNICATION
Physical Barriers: Insufficiently insulated rooms, sounds related tophysical disturbances and distractions either in the surroundingenvironment or somewhere close by which perforce draw attentionof the participants.
Psychological Barriers: Mental turbulence of any type whichdistracts the interactant or prevents him from paying attention tothe message.
Semantic Barriers If the receiver is not able to comprehend themessage that the sender intends to convey, it results into languagebarrier in the process of communication.
Organizational Barriers: Two channels of communication- formal &
informal. Both these systems are important and carry message-Sometimes giving information, sometimes reinforcing andsometime conflicting- throughout the organization.
Interpersonal Barrier: Emotional reactions, positive and negativeattitude of the sender and receiver, wrong timing of message &
inattentive listening create communication barrier.
