46 Westgate RoadSite Location

The proposed site is located at 46 Westgate Rd Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1TSIt is a brownfield site situated between two buildings on the north side of the road. The site is 36m x 18m in size (648m sq)

46 Westgate RoadSite Constraints

• Fronts onto busy Westgate road (one way system)• Buildings on either side• Windows on office building• Overlooked by residential accommodation to the North• Listed buildings and office area• Access for construction traffic to north (rear) or site.

46 Westgate RoadLaser Scanning

• Paul Burrows from Leica GeoSystems visited to give a tutorial on to use the Leica P20 Laser Scanner.• Scans were taken from three different locations• Scans were registered in the office using Leica Cyclone software

46 Westgate RoadPoint Cloud Data

• Three separate sets of point cloud data were synced together to form one set for the site and surrounding context• This data was imported into Revit where the point cloud was aligned to the existing city model• Once aligned the data could be used to accurately model the adjacent buildings to the site

46 Westgate RoadNavisworks - Clash Detection

We ran a clash detection on Navisworks between the structural columns and the walls, doors and curtain walling. Several clashes occurred where the columns and beams meet the internal walls and the openings have not been modelled.
