Bursted Multi-key report (Cont…)
What is it? A user can receive multiple bursted copies of the same report:
For example: Overall manager could receive the reports of each of his regions‟ managers
The reports are differentiated by burst key. This IS new.
Previous versions did not include burst key in the report name, which means that all the

And finally: Timestamp on Active Reports MHT files
Report Service will add a timestamp to the MHT files. This will allow the import to iPad to
determine which file is newer and prompt the user if they are importing an older Active
Report:
– When importing through iTunes or an email, the new rule will be:
• conflict resolution will be done using the file name, not the ID of the MHT
– When importing a newer AR: silently overwrite without warning
– if importing older AR: warn user and give the option to keep of overwrite existing.

• Improved functionality in Report outputs to Excel
• Prompt API
• New Static Repeater table control for active Reports
Cognos 10.2
Cognos 8 charts by default
Had to type macros by hand or copy and paste from FM
Modifying prompts required hacking the BI source code
The functionality now offered by static repeater table control was in demand but more difficult to implement

IBM Cognos 10.2 Active Reports: Static Repeater Table Control
• Adds interactive behavior to the repeater table.
• Useful for creating buttons and grids of custom content.
© 2012 IBM Corporation IBM Confidential - July 2012 48
Existing Prompt Techniques
– Hack into BI source code
• Are not documented or supported
– We do our best to maintain compatibility and will continue to do so for some
time
• We may break them despite our best efforts
– You do NOT need to replace these techniques in this release
• Current Prompt API likely not sufficient
• You will have to replace them at some undefined point in the future

Solution Highlights
Enhanced Query Service with Dynamic Query:
• 64-bit in-memory optimized query generation with pattern intelligence to improve performance against complex heterogeneous data
• In-memory calculations and aggregate operations for faster compute time
• New optimized caching for hierarchies, members, facts, calculations and prompts for improved report performance
• Initial conformance is for OLAP sources: SAP BW, TM1 and Essbase.

Dynamic Cubes
• In-Memory OLAP cubes that load directly from a star or snowflake schema Data
Warehouse
• The goal is to improve performance on large data warehouses
• Is a part of Dynamic Query Mode
– No license or separate install
• Each cube is a dimensional view of Star or Snowflaked schema, based on One Fact
table
• Dynamic Cubes uses the database and data cache for scalability, and also uses a
combination of caching, optimized aggregates (in-memory and in-database), and
optimized SQL to achieve performance.
• Once a Dynamic Cube is created and published it can be access like any other OLAP
cube

Dynamics Cubes
• Cache shared across
all users
• Security is applied on
top of the cache

Fully Aggregate Aware
• To guarantee query routing
• Advise on aggregates
– In-Memory
– Database
• Create In-Memory aggregates on the fly
– No DBA required

Dynamic Cube Designer
• Not Framework Manager
• Not Performance Modeler
• Only with Star or Snowflake Schema‟s
• Cube consists of dimensions and a fact table
• A single cube can be used to create multiple cubes
• Dimensions can be shared
• Merge 2 base cubes to create a virtual cube
• Virtual cubes can be combined as well
