FINISHING LINES
Finishing lines are where the vehicle paint quality is controlled for the last time. When the vehicle is being painted, there is always error present, so the last control must be carried out with diligence.
The errors on the vehicle surface are hidden so as to make then indistinguishable to the naked eye. Therefore in order to make the last control personnel more productive, there has to be a saturated light level on the vehicle surface consisting of light and dark strips that form a contrast.
This contrast difference enables the detection of errors by the human eye as the vehicle passes between strips of light. This effect produced on the vehicle surface is known as the zebra effect.
THE IMPORTANCE OF GLARE ON THE FINISHING LINES
Glare is the disturbance caused by excessive light reflection on the human eye. The perception of an eye viewing a light source with excessive glare ratio is reduced.
For net error detection on the finishing lines, care must be taken so that when the eye is confronted with direct light to ensure it is not disturbed. Otherwise even obvious errors can remain undetected.
According to international standards (CIE), the maximum glare value, where an eye will not be disturbed is accepted as 30.
For this reason it is essential that the fixtures used must cause excessiveanti-glare and must provide calculable results.
ZEBRA EFFECT
Zebra effect is the creation of alternating light and dark strips of light on the surface of the vehicle and thus providing the necessary contrast.
The zebra effect ensures quicker detection of errors that pass between contrasting light and dark light strips
In order to provide for this effect, the light source must be not be visible from the reflection on the vehicle surface. The width of the light strips must be between 10-15cm.
Only a light strip as wide as the reflector surface must be visible from the reflection on the vehicle surface and the reflection from the dark strip must not contain any light glare or light source.
Therefore embedded Revo Zebra fixtures must be used on a vertical plane on the side, roof and under the door of the vehicle in order to ensure this effect.

Why was there a need for an automation system?
In the Revo Zebra application, in order to ensure a more detailed error detection, for different coloured vehicles the light level must be changed for each colour.
For example for more Zebra effect on black coloured vehicles, the light level must be increased, while for white coloured cars it must be decreased. As different coloured cars cab pass through a finishing lines, the automation system must be able to automatically detect each cars colour.
EAE Automation Systems have colour differentiation ability.

Paint errors termed as “Orange Peel” “are more easily detected.
The increase in visual comfort means less eye fatigue.
The ability to change light levels in accordance with the colour of the vehicle means maximization of the Zebra effect.
