WHAT KIND OF MEDIA

INSTITUTION MIGHT

DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT

AND WHY?

WHAT DOES A PRODUCTION COMPANY DO?

A production company supplies the physical product such as; film, radio or TV programme to a wide audience.

The production company is responsible for raising the money needed to fund the production.

There are a variety of production companies such as; 20th Century Fox, Warner Brother Pictures and Paramount.

This is our production company; JRS Productions.

WHO IS THE DISTRIBUTOR?

The film distributor is solely responsible for the marketing of the film.

The distributor must think of an effective method of how to distribute the product so it gets to audience.

They must decide on a date of when they will distribute it.

WHO WOULD DISTRIBUTE OUR FILM?

For my film, I would go to Film4. Film4 produces and distributes films of their own as well as others.

Film4 distributes the films produced by 20th Century Fox as they are both owned by Rupert Murdoch which makes it easier for them to be distributed and seen by a wider audience.

CREDITS

Credits on a film can be shown at the beginning and the end of a film. Normally, opening credits reveal the more important crew members of the production.

Closing credits are much longer than the opening credits as they include every crew member and their role in the production.

For our production, we only included opening credits as our film was a short film. We listed the company name, director, camera person, editor, sound person and cast.

These are the credits used in ‘Catch Me If You Can’:
