your e-mail subscribers to like your page, have your like buttons in your e-mail to!make it as easy as possible to like you.!

!Remember: these people already are connected, so for them it’s a small step to make!

Encourage your e-mail!subscribers to like your page.

Your Facebook header is the first thing people see when they go to your page,!so make good use of it!!

!As you know, you can only make one first impression. Make sure your header shows who you are, but more importantly: what you stand for. You can also often change the lay out to keep your ‘status’ up to date with what is going on. For example a Christmas header, a summer

header or even a special header for the Olympics!

Make sure your Facebook!header represents you.

If you have a Facebook Page you want to have a URL that ‘sticks’. Preferably your brand of course, like facebook.com/momentology. This will make your Facebook Page more easily brand-able. It’s really simple, just go to your ‘About’ section on your page and create your Facebook Web Address. It works as long as you have 25 or more likes. Be

careful: you cannot change it, so get it right the first time!!

Get your vanity url.

Videos are hot, especially on Facebook. Facebook are serious about competing with YouTube and if you upload a video direct to Facebook it will probably get more reach than

if you share a YouTube link. So always upload your video directly to Facebook!!

Videos? Upload to Facebook,!don’t use YouTube!

6

Like video, images often perform better on Facebook. So use the right visuals in your updates, use them to show what people should expect from your content, and share

images with quotes for example to get more shares.!

Use visuals, lot’s of them!

7

Are you sharing a link? Facebook will give you an automated preview. The image that is shared is usually the biggest image in the article. But you can change it! Once

you’ve added the link and the preview shows, simply click ‘+ Upload Image’ in the update and you can change it to any image you want!!

Change the visuals!in your updates.

8

Sometimes you want more interaction with your fans. Why not go to their page or profile and comment on or like their updates? But you might not want to do

that as ‘you’, but as your page. Facebook offers the opportunity to!choose your ‘source’. Choose carefully!

Liking and commenting!as your page or yourself?

9

Hashtags are useful in many ways. For one, people can more easily search on topics with them. Putting hashtags in your updates will make them easier to find for those looking for

specific topics. It can also be really effective in raising awareness!!

Use Hashtags.

10

If you share a link on Facebook it automatically shows a preview and a link below the update. You can then take out the actual link from the update and the link below will still be

there. Research shows this will increase the click through rates on the posts!!

When sharing, delete the link.

11

Did you know you don’t have to publish every post right away? You can schedule ahead and Facebook has made this really easy for you. When you create the update, in the right bottom corner simply choose ‘Schedule Post’ to put the!

post in for a later time. You can also choose to backdate the post!or save it for later to edit!

Scheduling posts.

12

Advertising is now a big part of ‘being seen’ on Facebook. Sometimes you want to do this ‘quick and dirty’ on a single post. Facebook has made this really easy for you. If

you click ‘Boost post’, Facebook instantly let’s you turn your post into an ad.!

“Boost” your !posts instantly.

13

If you have a website you are most probably looking at your analytics. When you have a Facebook Page you should do the same and watch your ‘insights’. It will show you how

well your fans like you, how your reach is doing and even how often your timeline!was visited. Use it to improve your posts!

Make good use!of your insights.

14

Getting enough visibility for your pages is hard, so you should try and learn from others, your competitors for example. Facebook has made doing this really. On your insights pages go to “Overview” and scroll down. You can add “Pages to watch”. Add your competitors here. You

can follow how they do (and compare) and every time they post something that gets them!a lot of interaction, you will get a notification so you can ‘spy’ on your competitors to!

see what made them successful.

Track competitors.

15

Want to know who your fans are, and where they come from? The insights Facebook provide make it easy to find this out. Within insights go to the ‘People’ tab and see where your fans,

and also those that you have reached or engaged with, come from. !

Insights: Know your fans!and where they are from.

16

When it comes to Facebook and your updates you have to keep one thing in mind at all times: think mobile. Most people visit Facebook from their mobile devices,

smartphones or tablets. Your strategy has to be adapted to that.!!

Think about where people are when they read your updates and adjust!your strategy to meet people’s needs.

Think Mobile.

17

Maybe you think Facebook is ‘free’. It might be for some, but if you are a brand chances are you are having a hard time ‘being seen’ by your target audience.

Especially with the new algorithms it is getting tougher to ‘organically’!be seen. Advertising on Facebook therefore has become a!

very sensible choice. !!

The important bit: think really well about your ads, who you are!targeting and why. Don’t waste money!

Advertise!!

18

Have you ever tried Facebook’s search? Whilst it’s not quite Google, it does have some hidden nuggets that are gold for any marketer. Doing outreach? Use Graph Search to find people working at a company by searching for “people who work at

COMPANY NAME” (or leave out your own friends by searching for ‘people who!are not my friends and work at COMPANY NAME’ and start seeing who!

you can outreach to and what they like.

Graph Search: The Gold Mine.

19

Some businesses still see Facebook and their website as two different!entities. However, they should be integrated.!

!This means for example that you should make sure it is very easy!

to like your Facebook Page on your website.!!

Show those buttons!

Make it easy for people to like!your page and your website.

20

You might think this is a Twitter functionality, but Facebook does it too! If you want to tag someone in your post, start with @ and type a name or page. You can then tag them. This will help your updates to be seen more widely and make your fans and

potential friends look good.!

Tag people and pages using!the “@” functionality.
