Treatment

• London/City location• Performance based with a slight narrative• Boy band get off a train station in London and walk out

together as a group. Through the video it intertwines the group together with shots of couples together in black and white to reflect the meaning of the song with memories of past relationships and the journeys they’ve experienced. We feel this should be shot in black and white to get the feeling of it being a past memory.

• However we want the overall meaning of how there is a strong relationship between the boys and they stick together, which will engage the emotions which are usually portrayed within a boy band.

Mise-en-scene (Costume)

• Through our initial research into boy bands we have taken some inspiration from One Direction who are possibly the most exciting new boy band in the music industry at the moment, and used similar costume from

them to create an authentic boy band look.

Mise-en-scene(Location)

• The idea of a city location has come from our research into recent boy band videos and pop videos we have looked out.

Shot Ideas – Visual Hooks

Challenges In Our Concept

• Outdoor location

• General public

• Night time footage

• Weather

Band Promotion

• Advertisement campaigns in magazines such as Teen Vogue ( American Magazine)

• Effective use of Facebook , twitter and other social networking sites to promote album sales

• Television advertisement before programs our audience is likely to watch (X Factor) etc.

• We plan to use popular conventions within our posters, advertisements etc. (Male Gaze, Coherent clothing)

• Teen Vogue – Targets our specific audience (10-20 year old females) , general magazine concentrates on both the band and the people behind the band. E.g. would get us in touch with our audience, good chance to develop the ‘Meta Narrative’.

• Q magazine is much more musically orientated, offers a broader audience however that audience is more likely to have a greater interest in music (especially pop music).

Mood Boards

Digipak Ideas

• Through research into similar boy bands digipak’s it is clear that the main focus throughout is the group themselves. Subsequently our idea is going to be:

• Front cover: Group shot in London at night with city location in background

• Page 1: Shot of one character using rule of thirds with layout with the lyrics next to it

• Page 2: Group shot mid filming • Back cover: Night life shot of London with song

Audience Research

What did we learn? Why is this of importance?

This question was particularly valuable; as we were wavering over the exact location it’s good to know that the

audience’s responses enforce our initial ideas for a location. Beach and Urban Location are clear favourites

when it comes to a chosen location.

The responses to the question above were all love orientated, and definitely all sensed that the song

was about a girl. Emotionally charged, relationships

The results above demonstrate that the vast majority of our audience thinks there should

be a girl involved.
