Principal’s Report

Update on At Home Learning for Term 2 As the term draws to a close at Guise, we are seeing

teaching and learning look very different. The COVID-

19 global pandemic has meant that students and staff

are unable to attend school as usual. Students are

learning from home and the majority of staff, each day,

are working from home. This has been a period of rapid

change for our families and teachers. Unfortunately, the

uncertainty of the global crisis means that there is no

fixed end date for our current ways of operating. The

expectation is that Term 2 will continue as we are for an

unknown length of time. All NSW public schools are open

but parents and carers are encouraged to keep their

children home if possible.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and

thank all staff in completely redesigning the way they

teach and work. Their commitment to preparing online

learning, Zoom conferences and contacting families to

ensure we are providing as much support as we can has

been exceptional. We do miss every child, as they are

the reason we come to school each day, however, we know

this is the best way to keep them and us safe.

School Photos The School Photo Day that was scheduled for the first

week back of Term 2 has been postponed. At this stage

we will be booking a day in Term 3 for our school photos.

Pre-Kinder The commencement of our Pre-Kinder program which

would normally start next term has been postponed due

to current circumstances, until further notice.

We are hoping that we may be able to deliver a modified

program that may commence in Term 3. We will let families

know later in Term 2, if this will be able to be offered.

Seesaw, Zoom Video sessions and Activity Booklets Seesaw will continue as our main platform for online

learning for Term 2. Please ensure your child is accessing

Seesaw each day and contact school if you are having any

issues. We will be using Zoom next term as an opportunity

for students to connect with teachers and collaborate.

Zoom lessons are a new experience and it is important to

ensure everyone is aware of, and will follow, appropriate

protocols set out by the school and NSW Department of

Education. Additionally, we will be delivering more

packages in the first week back next term with activity

booklets to supplement children’s online learning.

A Video Message from Staff We would like to thank all families for supporting their

children with online learning over the past couple of weeks

during these very difficult and uncertain times. The

amazing staff of Guise PS have recorded a video message

for you all. Please click on the link:
