Exploration Through Innovation
My Personal Brand Plan
By: Kali Winkler
About Me
My name is Kali Winkler and I am currently working towards completing my Public Relations certificate at Humber College. I have an honours BA with two majors: media, information & technoculture, and sociology. Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the communications field but was not sure which direction I wanted to take. After gaining experience from a four-month public relations internship, I realized that PR would be the perfect career for me. The only thing I have yet to discover is which sector of PR I would like to work in. I hope to do this by exploring my options through the use of social media. From this, I will be able to build my networks and discover my interests to create a clear path for my future.

Situation Analysis (SWOT)
Strengths: Honours BA double major; media, information & technoculture, and sociology Excellent writing and editing skills Positive attitude Work well under pressure in fast-paced environments Already have a strong social network PR internship experience Skilled in many computer and social media applications
Weaknesses: Tend to take on too many responsibilities, limiting my time Demanding school schedule takes time away from other things, such as volunteering as much as
I would like to Still unsure of the area of PR that I would like to work in Putting too much time into smaller projects when there are many projects to complete
Opportunities: Using social media to build networks and establish my personal brand Establishing relationships with other PR students in my program Establishing relationships with mentors, PR professionals and my professors Taking advantage of volunteer opportunities through Humber
Threats: Competition with other students and individuals with strong PR skills in Toronto Not having a particular focus for the area of PR that I would like to get into Many companies are not currently hiring due to cut-backs during the recession
