Children’s day is a day dedicated to the comprehension and fraternity between the kids around the world and intended to promote

activities that will impact in a positive manner the well-being and rights of all kids worldwide.

In 1954, the United Nations recommended to establish a universal day for the children in every country and suggested the governing entities to celebrate such day in the date that will suit their nation best. The UN celebrates such date on November 20th in commemoration of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989).

To celebrate all the children, every country has its own unique dates and traditions. For example, Children’s Day was historically celebrated in Argentina on the first Sunday of August. In 2003 it was moved to the second Sunday to coincide with the day celebrated on Chile, due to the request by the government, stating that the first week many parents would be with limited income that week. In Mexico, parents give kids a present. Even though it is not a holyday, schools schedule different activities to commemorate this day, such activities include festivals or fieldtrips. While in Ecuador they celebrate every year on June 1st, all educational institutions, government organizations, non-governmental organizations, and popular organizations that work for the well-being of children and adolescents; organize activities that reflect about the

rights of the children, followed by music, games, artist, sharing candy, among other things.
