Two ideologies:

1. HTM/ISO – take in ambient air, use any type of air compression method (oil-injected or oil-free) and ensure patient safety by means of an ultra high purification system (MED + QDT)

2. NFPA99 (US) / CSA 7396-1 (CAN) – be more stringent on air quality intake and ensure patient safety by not adding contaminants during the air compression stage

In normal operation both systems will provide clean air, however only oil-free solutions fullyeliminate the risk of oil carry-over to the patient
