What are they? New materials are products of new technologies result of the

development of chemistry and applied physics, engineering and materials science.

How are they obtained? Basically, they’re obtained by NANOTECHNOLOGY.

Nanotechnology studies matter from a nanometer level resolution.

GrapheneGraphene is a substance

composed of pure carbon,

with atoms arranged in a regular hexagonal pattern

similar to graphite

SiliceneThe silicene is similar in structure

and chemical and electrical

properties of graphene. But is

predicted to be more stable that it

resists oxidation upon contact with

air rather than other compounds.

Coltan Coltan is a dull black metallic ore from which the elements niobium

and tantalum are extracted.

Coltan is used primarily for the production of tantalum capacitors,

used in many electronic devices. It is also used in high temperature

alloys for air and land based turbines.

Slaves for this new "black gold"

Carbon nanotubes Nanotubes are the strongest materials known, exceeding up to 100

times the steel.

Objectives and aims of the new

materials

Objectives of graphene Graphene This material will cause the electronic displays are thinner

and can be used in windows, eyeglasses, walls and other objects.
