Jesus Is Risen and That Changes Everything

One of our primary tasks as a Christian community is discipleship, our own following of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Beginning on Sunday, October 11, you are invited to participate in a eight week study and discussion with Fr. Matt entitled “Jesus is Risen and That Changes Everything.” Over the course of eight sessions, we will explore important teachings of the Christian faith. Our time together will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last for one hour each. Why not give it a try? You might just find it something you have always needed. WasJesusunawareofPeter’slove?Ofcoursenot.HisthreefoldquestionwasnotforHimself,butforPeter.Heasked

HisquestionstounderscoretheessentialtruththatonlyloveforChristwouldsustainPeterintheworkthatlay

ahead—thatarduous,demandingworkofcaringforpeople’ssouls—perhapsthehardestworkofall.

JesusdidnotaskPeterifhelovedHissheep,butifhelovedHim.AffectionforGod’speopleinitselfwillnotsustainus.Hissheepcanbeunresponsive,unappreciative,andharshlycriticalofoureffortstoloveandtoservethem.Inthe

end,wewillfindourselvesdefeatedanddiscouraged.

The“loveofChrist”—ourloveforHim—istheonlysufficientmotivationthatwillenableustostaythecourse,to
