And so it begins...
Fall brings with it many
great things: pumpkin do-
nuts, pumpkin spice lattes,
pumpkin pies, pumpkin can-
dles, and the start of a new
season for NUPL!
In this newsletter, we’ll re-
cap some of the big events
that happened this summer
and earlier in the fall
(including but not limited to
the Special Olympics, Raw
Nationals, and the New
England Open) as well as
preview some of the big
meets that we have coming
up later on this fall.

One of the first meets of
the summer was held at
Next Level Fitness & Ath-
lete Training Center in
Johnston, RI. NUPL sent
spotters and loaders as
well as lifters down to John-
ston to compete with some
of the strongest lifters in
New England. The meet
ran from Saturday, May
30th to Sunday, May 31st
and the results can be

over the summer. We sent
many lifters up to Waterville
to show Mainers what pow-
erlifting was all about, but
in true NUPL fashion, we
also sent a group of spot-
ters and loaders to keep
things moving smoothly
and efficiently. Overall, it
This meet was a special
one for me, as it was in my
hometown of Waterville,
Maine. Taking place from
Saturday, August 22nd to
Sunday, August 23rd, the
New England Open was
one of the last opportunities
NUPLers had to compete
was a successful meet, as
were all the others held and
competed at over the
course of the summer. The
results can be found in the
Results section of this
newsletter.
USAPL Massachusetts and Rhode Island Open State Championships
New England Open Championships
USAPL 32nd New Jersey State Championships
Spanning from Saturday,
August 1st until Sunday,
August 2nd, the 2015
USAPL 32nd New Jersey
State Championship meet
was held at the Hyatt Re-
gency Hotel in New
Brunswick, NJ. Just like
with the Massachusetts
and Rhode Island Open
State Championships,
NUPL sent both lifters and
helpers to make sure that
the meet ran smoothly and
was successful. The results
of the meet can be found in
the Results section of this
newsletter.

Meets
Every year, Massachusetts
hosts the special Olympics
Summer games, and every
year, NUPL is happy to
help out.
This year, the meet was
held on Saturday, June 6th
in the Palmer Dixon Field
House at Harvard Universi-
ty. Special Olympians from
all over the state came to
compete in a powerlifting
meet almost entirely run by
NUPL.
Our coach Michael Zawilin-
ski worked with meet direc-
tor George Toma to square
away the administrative
side while NUPLers set up,
spotted and loaded,
judged,
and cleaned up the contest
after it had concluded.
The photo on the front
page shows NUPL posing

ly be a daunting task. So
naturally, NUPL was there
to lend a hand (or 40.)
With some of the biggest
and strongest lifters in the
world on the nominations
list, Scranton, PA was truly
an electric city from Thurs-
day, October 15th through
Sunday, October 18th.
NUPL decided that this
meet would be a good
chance to get our name out
there, so we took to Insta-
gram, liking, posting, and
reposting pictures of some
of the best lifters in the IPF
up on the platform, sur-
rounded by NUPLers (and
also some pictures of big-
name lifters wearing our
shirts, but you’ll have to
follow us @nupowerlifting
to see those.)
Overall, the whole weekend
went off without a hitch,
another successful meet in
the books for the premier
spotters and loaders in the
US.
With 1147 lifters, USAPL
Raw Nationals was the
largest powerlifting meet in
the history of the sport,
regardless of federation.

New Roster
Over the past 8 years since its conception,
our team has grown larger and more quickly
than could have ever been anticipated. From
2 people to the nearly 100 lifters that came to
our tryouts this year, this team has grown to
be one of the largest on campus and one of
the largest powerlifting teams in the country.
Those 100 were whittled down to the 32 that
made it to this years official roster, which can
be found below.

Email: nupowerlifting@gmail.com The Raw Collegiate Cup started 2 years ago in the Cabot weight room
right here at Northeastern University. Last year, the meet scaled up and
moved to the Baystate Athletic Club in Scituate, MA. This year, it will be
held on November 7th in the Primer Ballroom at Foxwoods Resort Casi-
no in Mashantucket, CT. This meet is growing to be one of the premier
collegiate powerlifting meets in the north, and as such, Northeastern will
be sending a group to Connecticut to defend our reputation as the
strongest school in the north.
