FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
The Gospel for
this weekend is
another attempt
made by Jesus’s opponents
to trap him. Once again
Jesus’s answer to their
question is quick and to the
point. The greatest com-
mandment is to love God
and our neighbor. This Gospel
passage is also the basis for
the shortest homily I ever
gave. It is still known today as
the “Nike Homily” by former
parishioners. And so I pass it
on to you. “Jesus says to love
God and our neighbor. So as
the Nike commercial says,
“Just do it!”
Peace,
Fr. Jim
MASS INTENTIONS
Remember your loved ones or a special intention by offering a Mass.

MATS FOR THE HOMELESS
We would like to thank everyone for the over-whelming response to the collection of plastic bags, we have enough for the rest of the year plus next year.
THANK YOU EVERYONE! Please, no more bags until we ask for them. We are out of room to store them, which is a good thing, now our hands will be busy making them into our mats for the homeless. Thank you all again for all the bags but please no more bags. Mats for the Homeless Committee

THANKSGIVING TURKEY DRIVE In support of the Fairview Food Pantry
the Knights of Columbus is collecting
frozen turkeys before each weekend Mass starting next
weekend through November 19th. Smaller turkeys and
turkey breasts are welcome by the smaller families the
food panty services. Please help us make this Thanks-
giving a joyful time for families in need.
5TH SUNDAY ROSARY
Everyone is invited to join Knights of Columbus Council 6996 for a community rosary service at 4:00pm on Sun-day afternoon, October 29th, 2017 in the Chapel be-hind the altar at Holy Trinity Church. We will dedicate this rosary for increased vocations in our diocese plus more peace at home and around the world.
The rosary offers all Catholics a great opportunity to
strengthen their faith. Community devotions such as these provide
the entire parish family an opportunity to experience faith and fellow-
ship with the Knights of Columbus. We are promoting devotion to
Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus, by leading a community rosary on
every 5th Sunday that falls within a month. Future rosaries in 2017 will
be held at 4:00pm on the following Sundays: December 31st. Please
join us if you can.

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
In response to the question about the first of the com-
mandments, Jesus says: The first is, Hear, O Israel: The
Lord our God. the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord
your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and
with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second
is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no
other commandment greater than these. The Apostle
St . Paul reminds us of this: He who loves his neighbor has
fulfilled the law. The commandments, You shall not com-
mit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You
shall not covet, and any other commandment, are summed up in this
sentence, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no wrong
to a neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
