How do you think your family felt when you were born?

We have a guest with us today.

Can anyone guess what is going to happen soon in

our guests life?

Can you express your feelings about preparing for the birth of a baby?

Thank you for coming today

• What kind of things do you think your families might have done to prepare for your birth?

• Your parents probably did some of the following:

• Prayed for the baby to be healthy.

• Choosing a name for the baby.

• Getting baby clothes and other supplies.

• Planned for a place for the baby to sleep.

• Your birth was a joyful and exciting event.

• When I had my baby . . .

• Being born and receiving a physical body is an important part of Heavenly Father’s plan for us.

• Today we are going to learn about the birth of a baby for whom people had been waiting many years.

• Long ago the prophets said that one day a savior would be born.

• He would make it possible for people to return to live with Heavenly Father again.

The people waited and waited for the birth of this baby.

Who was this baby?

It was Jesus Christ

• No one knew exactly when Jesus would be born.

• Some parents taught their children to look forward to this great event because they knew Jesus would show the right way to live.

• He would make it possible for everyone to return to live with Heavenly Father.

• Without Jesus as our Savior, no one would be able to live with Heavenly Father again.

Let’s pretend you lived long ago, before the birth of Jesus Christ.

You are children living near the city of Bethlehem.

Your parents have taught you to look forward to the birth of the Savior.

Tonight you are out in the fields, helping your father tend his sheep.

What will you take with you as you go with your father to tend the sheep?

So there you are, out tending your sheep, when an angel shows up out of nowhere.

The shepherds where afraid.

Can you all show me what you would look like if this had happened to you?

Act like you are afraid to see the angel.

Now you hear what the angel had to say and it was good news.

Can you all show me what you would look like after you received the good news.

Act like you are happy to see the angel.

Let’s sing the first firs of Far, Far Away on Judea’s Pains

1. Far, far away on Judea's plains,

Shepherds of old heard the joyous strains:

Glory to God, Glory to God,

Glory to God in the highest;

Peace on earth, goodwill to men;

Peace on earth, goodwill to men! Text and music: John Menzies Macfarlane, 1833-1892

Who are the people in this picture?

Take turns and each stand one at a time and tell about one thing that happened that night while the shepherds were tending their sheep

Many people were very happy after waiting so long for the Savior’s Birth.

I am happy that Jesus Christ came to earth.
