Geometric operations
First: Drawing a line segment :
1) Draw a line segment of the following lengths:
a) 7 Cm
b) 5 Cm
c) 4.5 Cm (1
42 Cm)
d) 6.5 Cm (1
62 Cm)
Second: drawing a squares , rectangles on a lattice.
2) In the lattice, draw each of the following:
a) A rectangle of dimensions
(length is 6 units , width is 4
units).
b) A square of side length 5 cm.
38
c) A rectangle of dimensions (length is 7 units , the width is
3 units).
d) A square of side length 3 cm.
39
Third: Drawing Congruent shapes: 1) A shape is missing from the square,Pick the congruent shape
that completes the square.

Lesson 6 (The Angles)
What is an Angle?
Two rays that share the same endpoint form an angle. The point
where the rays intersect is called the vertex of the angle. The
two rays are called the sides of the angle.
Example: Here are some examples of angles.
We can specify an angle by using a point on each ray and the
vertex. The angle below may be specified as angle ABC or as
angle CBA; you may also see this written as ABC or as CBA.
Note how the vertex point is always given in the middle.
44
Degrees: Measuring Angles
We measure the size of an angle using degrees.
Example: Here are some examples of angles and their degree
measurements.
Acute Angles
An acute angle is an angle measuring between 0 and 90
degrees.
Example:
The following angles are all acute angles.
45
Obtuse Angles
An obtuse angle is an angle measuring between 90 and 180
degrees.
Example:
The following angles are all obtuse.
Right Angles
A right angle is an angle measuring 90 degrees. Two lines or
line segments that meet at a right angle are said to be
perpendicular. Note that any two right angles are
supplementary angles (a right angle is its own angle
supplement).
Example:The following angles are both right angles.
46
1) Color the boxes next to the angles ,Acute angles
black and the obtuse blue.
2) Circle the smallest angle
47
3) Write the type of each angle as acute, obtuse, straight, or right.

whether they are acute, obtuse or right angles.

**Remember that:
a) The unit of measuring angles is a degree (…º)
b) Small angles (less than 90º) are called ACUTE angles
( Its type is an acute angle )
c) Angles bigger than (90º, but less than 180º are called
OBTUSE angles. ( Its type is an obtuse angle )
d) The measure of the straight angle = 180º
e) The measure of the rigth angle = 90º
( Its type is a Right angle )
