Dear Reader,
How many of us on a daily basis hear at the next junction turn left” and continue straight ahead? Are we depending on GPS to direct us through life? Is this our modern day shepherd?
In today’s readings we hear how God leads and cares for us, and how we are to lead and care for others in God’s flock. However, before we can be good shepherds we must be the sheep who follow the Shepherd’s voice. If we doubt ourselves, our capabilities or let all the stresses and strains of life take over, can we still hear His voice or have we have gone astray?
Today we pray that we hear God’s voice and that some of us will hear the calling to become new shepherds and to continue to help and guide people in their daily lives.
On this 51st World Day of Prayer for Vocations, we are especially asked to pray that the Church may be provided with the leaders needed to do its work of spreading the Word of God. “A vocation is a fruit that ripens in a well cultivated field of mutual love that becomes mutual service, in the context of an authentic ecclesial life. No vocation is born of itself or lives for itself. A vocation flows from the heart of God and blossoms in the good soil of faithful people, in the experience of fraternal love” Pope Francis

For young men and women; That God may give them the gift of understanding to discern their service in the Church, the priesthood, diaconate, or consecrated life; And for the gift of courage to follow His call.
Queen of Heaven, rejoice. Alleluia For He Whom Thou was worthy to bear, Alleluia Has risen as He promised. Alleluia Pray for us to God. Alleluia Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alleluia For the Lord has risen indeed. Alleluia Let us pray, O God, Who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may attain the joys of eternal salvation. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
