AMETEK Aerospace, AES and ExportingAMETEK Aerospace, AES and Exporting

• We have many “global” customers all over the world

• A variety of commercial and military products– Classify your products properly– Have a good method of adding license information to shipments– Train any freight forwarders in your product portfolio

• Understand your company’s role versus that of freight forwarder for each and every transaction

– Routed transactions – who does what?

• Multiple shipping points– Training, Training, Training– Train again– Have an export shipping procedure / checklist or AES manual– Have a position in management that can stop shipments (that’s me)

• AMETEK is an AES self filer where ever possible

Key issues with AESKey issues with AES

• MUST have an Internal Transaction Number (ITN) before shipment – “Just ship it and the paperwork will catch up” is not an option

• Shipping personnel need access to information– Systemically provide that information on shipping documents– Have backups identified– Did I mention training?

• License information needs to be accessible

• ITNs must be kept for 5 years from date of shipment together with shipping documentation

SummarySummary

•AES is a requirement and an improvement over paper SEDs

– Better for shipper in that edits happen up front– Better for the government for compliance efforts– Timely feedback– Key is quality of information and access to it

•What questions do you have?
