Pre-school and grade school students learn
In line with the goal of having students experience holistic development, South
Mansfield College will bring its pre-school to grade 2 students to an enchanting
time with “Beauty and the Beast” on September 26, 2017 at The On Stage,
Greenbelt, Makati City.
The cultural show, which is part of the outdoor education program, will serve as
opportunity for students to learn and develop skills and values beyond the four
corners of their classroom. Apart from watching the stage play, pre-school to grade
2 students will also have a chance to visit the Doll Joy Museum to have an
appreciation of how dolls are created.
High school students shine in NCR journalism
contest
Fifteen high school students joined the prestigious Liyab „17—15th NCR-wide
Journalism Press Conference held at the Philippine Normal University last
September 18 and 20, 2017. With the theme, “Kabataang Manunulat sa
Pagsipat ng Katotohanan Gamit ang Mapanuring Pamamahayag,” the event
was highlighted by seminars and competitions on news writing, feature writing,
sports writing, editorial cartooning, copy reading and headline writing, and
photojournalism.
Big winners were Miguel Secuando from Grade 9 Integrity and Maria Angelica
La Madrid from Grade 12. Miguel landed in the top 8 in Editorial Writing (English)
while Maj belonged to the top 8 in Copy Reading (English).
More than 100 students from among 50 schools in Metro Manila participated in the
event sponsored by The Torch Publications. The event aims to develop students’
journalistic writing skills on different genres.
The students were trained by Mr. Amiel Yacon, Mr. Lawrence Cobrador, Ms.

Goal Setting
Goal setting will help your children learn about motivation, achievement, and organization. Here
are a few tips that you can use to teach them to set and reach those goals:
1. Talk about their interests. Allow your children to talk to you about their interests and make sure you listen. Many parents make the mistake of setting goals for their children – the goals that they have in mind. When you know what your child is interested in, it becomes much
easier to come up with goals.
2. Develop a plan of action. You need to teach them to develop a plan of action for meeting that goal. Help them outline a plan for reaching the goal. This way they realize there is really a way
the goal can be reached.
3. Teach how to overcome obstacles. Use motivation techniques to help your children get
through obstacles and teach them that the obstacles are only temporary.
