STORAGE AVAILABILITY

RAID LEVEL 5

This level of RAID provides data striping on each device within storage array

It comprises block level data striping with distributed parity

This configuration is used for OLTP applications.

RAID LEVEL 1

• This level of RAID provides data mirroring.

• This requires more storage capacity.

• RAID 1 is used for applications such as data warehousing and some OLTP configurations

Some of the guidelines for both NAS and SAN

NAS RTOS: Essentially everything that is active within NAS device is available through the NAS operating system.

NAS Configuration: External sources of information can be identified and accessed.

Fabric Operating System Information: Available within switch MIBs

HBA Information: Available within the attached node server

Storage Information: MIBs or activity log files

OS Information: Dependent on the OS. Common Information Management Database

Application Information: Dependent on the application

DATA RECOVERY• Double write strategy and staging process

• The backup program can move data directly from disk to tape storage for archival and directly from tape to disk for restore

THANK YOU
