CITY

City
St Mary`s is a lively community
We do a lot of great work
But our school is in bad shape
Parts of the structure are crumbling
• Water has penetrated the cement
• In places the rebar is visible
• Some patching has been done but this has not solved the problems
• The internal stairs are potentially dangerous
Gutters and downpipes are inadequate
• Downpipes run directly into the courtyard, there are no under-floor drains to carry the water away
• Gutters are collapsing and no longer function, allowing water to penetrate the building
The toilet block is wholly inadequate
Drinking water in the courtyard
• This courtyard tap is the only source of drinking water for the children
• The surrounding area floods as there is no drain
• The whole area is subject to mould and damp and is clearly unsatisfactory
Paintwork is shabby and peeling
OUR CHILDREN DESERVE BETTER
What we would like to do• Repair all concrete to
ensure it is safe• Repair gutters, add
new downpipes, put in under-floor drains
• Tile courtyard with non slip tiles
• Sandblast all outside paintwork and repaint
• Install drinking water fountains
• Renovate toilet block• Repair leaks in roof• Renovate classrooms
including repair of ceilings
• Repair window louvers and bars
• Surface staircases with non-slip finish
• Replace worn out furniture
