description

An interesting survey of the ethnicities of Burma from north to south, east to west. Written by a British officer (with a Spanish sounding surname) who surveyed every inch of Burma in the 1910s and early 1920s.This book was initially published in 1924, and updated information was added just after the Japanese occupation during WWII. He identifies many many ethnic groups in every region. Interesting to note is that in Arakan he identifies many ethnicities: Kami, Chaw, Daingnets, Mro, Kon, Kaungtsos, Ledu, Yinhu, Welaung, Ku, Kyu, Taungtha, Po, Monyin, Ko, but there is no mention of 'Rohingya' or any Muslim group of people.
