Contents

• Selection of Revithoussa as the centre for the supply of LNG bunkering fuel in Greece and in the SEE region

• Strong points of Revithoussa for small scale LNG activities

• Roles of the Revithoussa terminal (incl. with respect to the Limassol port)

• Description of Revithoussa

• Current and future works

Limassol, 16 September 2016

Reasons for the selection of Revithoussa

• Selection in the Poseidon-Med Programme against two other options:

– Installation of LNG tanks in the port of Piraeus

– Installation of a floating storage unit (FSU) outside the port of Piraeus.

Strong points of Revithoussa for small scale LNG activities

• At short distance from the port of Piraeus.

• Easy permitting of the additional infrastructure compared to grass-roots installations.

• Open access to all users without creating constraints to shipowners regarding their LNG suppliers.

• Experienced personnel proud of 16 years of safe operation.

• However, regarding Cyprus, possibly in competition with Hadera (IL) and Damietta (EG) terminals and certainly with the “interim solution” if this will go ahead.

Roles of Revithoussa

• Existing roles

– The most important among the 3 entry points of the National Natural Gas System (NNGS)

– Ensures security of supply (16 days of average demand)

– Covers peaks in demand (83% of peak demand)

– Regional role in SE Europe

• New roles – LNG bunkering

– Loading of LNG carriers

– Truck loading

Description of Revithoussa

95.000 m3

1.000 m3 + 400 m 3 after upgrade

Gas send-out

160.000 m3 -> 260.000 m 3 after upgrade

Small scale LNG studies (completed)

− Technical feasibility and cost estimate study for the development of small scale LNG installations in Greece (Feb ‘16)

− Basic Design for the construction of a truck Loading station in Revithoussa (Sep ‘16)

Limassol, 16 September 2016

Small scale LNG studies / works (future)

• October 2016: Submission of EIA study for the truck loading installation

• End 2016: Completion of tender documents for the EPC contract award for the truck loading

• End 2017: Possibility of loading of large LNG carriers (>20.000 m3) with a capacity of 2.500 m3 LNG/h

• early 2018: Possibility of loading of small LNG carriers with the addition of a new arm on the existing jetty

(feeder vessels or bunkering barges 1.000 to 20.000 m3)

• mid 2018: Start of operation of the truck loading station

Basic data for the Limassol port

Limassol, 16 September 2016

• 80-100 calls/month with small seasonal variation

– Mainly containerships (2/3)

• Total bunkering volume 2015 (all fuels): 225.000 MT ~= 450.000 m3 LNG/y

– 80% anchorage / 20% port

Commercial vs. technical considerations

• Supply sources

– Revithoussa plus other

• Round trip time (Fuel & Charter cost)

• Storage size (Storage location)

• Ship routes

– Terminal stations for Passenger ships

– Competition with other bunkering ports on the same route

Limassol, 16 September 2016

Commercial vs. technical considerations

• Supply sources

– Revithoussa’s position is improved if we take into account the possible synergies with LNG supply to gas fired power plants in Crete and/or Rhodes.

– Units in those two islands (among other) can be converted to run with gas. The Power Corporation (PPC) is already investigating this option because of the EU Directive 2010/75/ΕΕ (IED) on emissions.
