Today’s Focus: Missing the “Wow!”
It’s human instinct to watch where
we’re going. That well-worn path sometimes
turns into a rut—a rut so deep that we need a
Divine intervention to startle us out of it!
FIRST READING:
Exodus 16.2-4, 12-15, 31
I am going to rain bread from heaven for you.
AFTER THEIR DELIVERANCE FROM EGYPT
SECOND READING:
Ephesians 4.17, 20-24
Clothe yourselves with the New Man, created according to the likeness of God.
PAUL HAS BEEN URGING THE EPHESIANS
GOSPEL:
John 6.24-35
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
SHORTLY AFTER THE FEEDING OF THE FIVE THOUSAND
Reflections: ❖ Sometimes we trudge along the well-worn path of religious practice, staring at the ground.
We may figure that we’ve pretty much “got this.” When we are plodding along, thinking about the “how” and the “what,” how might we miss the Who, the “wow!” of the One who is our faith?
❖ The passage just before today’s reading from John is the story of Jesus walking on the water. Are we trudging down the weary path of life absorbed in our own thoughts? How can we allow the Holy Spirit to help us “look up!” to walk on water?

CWL ROSARY INTENTION
In the month of July, let us pray for reconciliation & peace—our spiritual
well-being. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS (July 25, 2021)
17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so
many?” JOHN 6:9 The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes carries two important messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always have enough to share. Second, Christ can take our humble gifts and do great things with them if we are just willing to let Him. Nothing is impossible with God. All of our gifts, big or small, were given to us for a reason. No gift is too small or insignificant! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IF POSSIBLE, CONTACT THE PARISH OFFICE AHEAD OF TIME TO MAKE
RESERVATIONS FOR MASSES

After you have made a decision that is pleasing to God, the Devil may try to make you have
second thoughts. Intensify your prayer time, meditation and good deeds. For if Satan’s
temptations merely cause you to increase your efforts to grow in holiness, he’ll have an incentive
to leave you alone. -St. Ignatius of Loyola
