Why I don’t “Like” YouStrategies and Tactics for Successful Social Engagement

Jennifer McNabbSocial Marketing Manager@Jmc409

Your social should be….

Providing content that resonates

Fueling engagement

Converting!

5 reasons

Don’

t

You’re not providing content that resonates.

Pay attention to the new

Facebook metrics like virality, impressions, and engaged

users to see what content is most relevant to your

audience.

Don’

t

The content you provide is not dynamic.

Images and videos often speak louder than words. Illustrate the work you do in a way that

resonates with your audience.

If you can make your images shareable and relevant, you’ll fuel even more engagement.

Make sure you are posting multimedia with your

content as often as you can.

Don’

t

You forget to share relevant news and updates.

Have a social editorial calendar to help you

remember to post interesting content that is

happening in your organization.

You plan ahead for email, direct mail and your website content – social shouldn’t be any

different.

Don’

t

You’re not giving me opportunities to get involved locally where I care the most.

Your fans like you for a reason – tell them how they can help when it matters most.

If it makes sense, have a distributed local presence on different Facebook pages. Or language or geo-

target when possible.

Don’

t

You haven’t embraced Timeline as well as other brands and organizations have.

Make sure you are optimizing your cover photo, highlighting

posts, pinning, and adding milestones to tell your organization’s story.

I mean really, who can resist these faces?

Highlight and pin timely, relevant activities to remind your community of the impact you are making.

The US Air Force and Army share milestones from their history to remind the country of major

accomplishments.

Takeaways for Nonprofits

Relevant content is your secret weapon.

Engagement is your best friend.

Conversion is your end goal… whatever that may mean for you.
