Yorba Linda, 9-0, and Tustin, 7-2, lastSaturday.

IRVINE STORM FINISHES AS RUNNER-UP ● The Irvine Storm a boysseventh grade NJB All-Net team ex-tended its playoff run by finishing asrunner-up in the Super Sectionals lastweekend.

The team also qualified for the NJBNational Tournament.

The Storm finished with a record of4-1, winning pool games over LagunaHills, Fountain Valley and South Coast.It defeated the Yorba Linda Pumas inovertime, 48-43, in overtime in the semi-finals.

IRVINE EATERS DEFEAT BRUINS ●

The Irvine Eaters sixth grade IrvineYouth Basketball League boys teamwent into its game with the Bruinsshorthanded, but still came out on top.

The Eaters, who were the WesternDivision champions, defeated the East-ern Division champion Bruins, 57-42.

All six Eater players contributed.Andres Martinez led the team with 14

points, 19 rebounds and five assists.William Kim finished with 12 points,

six rebounds and two assists. AndrewCampbell added 10 points, four re-bounds and two assists.

Michael Armand finished with eightpoints, eight rebounds and two assistsand Neema Sadeghi had 10 points, onerebound and one assist.

Michael Masangkay rounded out theteam’s effort with three points, five re-bounds and one assist.

The Eaters had to play without Meh-rab Asgarynejad, who earned theleague’s sportsmanship award.

IRVINE STING TAKES SECOND ● TheIrvine Sting girls sixth grade All-Netbasketball team finished as the runner-up at the Southern California SuperSectional Tournament.

The team lost in the final to the Cerri-tos Magix, 36-29.

The Sting qualified for the tourna-ment by finishing in first place in theAll-Net winter league with a record of12-2.

The Sting offense was directed byTiffaney Pi and Becky Shane.

Post players Jillian Cizynski andCourtney Whyte contributed rebound-

ing and scoring. Wings included Spencer Bennett, Do-

minique Ambat, Megan Bartyczak, CaliFuller and Miquela Kallenberger.

LONGHORNS OVERTAKE BULLDOGS ● The Irvine Little LeagueMajor Division Longhorns defeated theBulldogs, 6-5, last week.

The Longhorns were led by pitcherBrian Neal’s six strikeouts and clutchhitting from Zak Baayoun and DakotaPotter.

Collin Harms closed down the Bull-dogs with five strikeouts in the final twoinnings.

The Longhorns rallied in the final in-ning with Kenan Hedstrom stealinghome for the game-winning run.
