Lalitha Sahasranamam (1000 names of Goddess Lalithambikai Devi) is a secret and very sacred text or mantra in Hindu religion. This mantra has been revealed to mankind through the discussion between lord Hayagriva and the great saga Agasthya. Chanting of Lalitha Sahasranamam captures our wandering
mind and it purifies the mind and uplifts the consciousness. At Selvavinayakar Kovil every third Sunday of the month Lalitha Sahastra Nama parayanam being recited with special Poojai to Godess Lalithambikai.

“Prathosha Viratham is one of the most important viratha among the Virathas performed to Lord Shiva. Pradosham is a bimonthly occasion on the thirteenth day of every fortnight in the Hindu calendar. Pradhosha time is especially meant for praying to Lord Shiva. Praying in that time is believed to free us from all our sins and gives moksha finally -hence the name Pradhosha. Pradosha Kaalam is that period of time during which Lord Shiva is performing Ananda Thandava on top of his Rishabha. To those devotees who pray to him during the Pradosha Kaalam, duly observing fast, performing puja, chanting of Rudram, visiting sacred places of interest, he brings prosperity and happiness in life.

Significance of Masi Makam
Masi Makam specially for Lord Shiva and Shakthi worship in Hindu religion.
Masi Makam, is an important annual festival observed by Tamilians around the world. The ritual falls in the Tamil Month of Masi (February – March). Makam, is one among the twenty seven stars in the Hindu astrological system.The Makam, star falls on a full moon day in the month of Masi and is considered highly auspicious in the Tamil speaking world and in several parts of South India. Masi Magam is an auspicious and important festival, celebrated in a special manner by hindus.Masi Magam marks one of the most powerful full moons of the year when the full moon aligns with the star Magha in the sign of Leo. This alignment occurs only once a year and facilitates the descent or visit of heavenly beings to the earth plane. Masi Magam is a great occasion to get rid of the negative effects of karma.

Sankatahara Chathurthi Chathurthi (Krishna Paksha) which comes after Full moon day called Sankatahara Chathurthi. The name Sankatahara Chaturthi means the day which dispels all the difficulties and hurdles. It is believed that the fasting with the thoughts if God Ganesha(viratham) observed on this day can remove the obstacles to progress and happiness. It can relieve men of all their sins and confer a place in the abode of Lord Ganesh.

Significance of Sivarathri
Mahasivarathri is the most important festival for the millions of devotees of Lord Shiva. Devotees of Lord Shiva
observe day and night fast and give sacred bath to Shiva Linga with honey, milk, water etc. It says that a devotee
who performs sincere worship of Lord Shiva on the auspicious day of Sivrathri is absolved of sins and attains
moksham.
On Mahashivratri, it is said that one needs to stay up all night, to show devotion towards Lord Shiva and Goddess
Parvati. In Hindu mythology, it is said that Shiva represents the body, while Shakti represents energy.
Mahasivrathri Festival is considered to be an extremely significant festival by women. Married women will be
blessed by Goddess Parvat withi a long and prosperous married life. Unmarried girls fast to get a handsome,
caring and loving husband like Lord Shiva.
• Special Hindu Religious Bajans, Religious Talk and Devotional songs will be performed throughout the Maha Shivarathri night.
• Refreshments tea and coffee would be available free for devotees throughout the festival. Dinner will be provided for the Devotees on Maha Sivarathri night
