33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time "But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the

Son, but only the Father." It may strike us as odd that there are things that the angels don't know. But it's even more surprising that Jesus--the Son of God--would have been unaware of the divine schedule for the end of the world. Given

all of this, should it come as any surprise that there are things that God choos-es not to reveal to us right now?

In his wisdom, God knows when the timing is right to reveal his plans to us. The fact that we don't know everything helps us remember that we are not

God. We are his creatures, dependent upon him for our existence, our suste-

nance, and for the hour of our death too. In this era of instant Internet infor-mation, advanced diagnostic medical tests, and statistical surveys predicting future trends, it's hard to accept the fact that there are some things we just

can't know. But this reality should keep us humble, reminding us that we don't have to know everything because we are in the powerful hands of a loving God

Thus, any attempt to "see the future" through psychic mediums like palm

reading, tarot cards, or astrology suggests a kind of distrust in God. As the catechism states, such practices "contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone" (§2116). As much as we might want to know when the world will end, when our dreams will come true, or when our problems will

cease, we are called to walk in faith, accepting what God chooses to reveal and trusting that even our moments of uncertainty are part of his benevolent plan for us. As today's psalm declares, "you will show me the path to life." What

else do we really need to know?

Elementary Faith Formation

Thank you to all the families who participated in our safety training classes last week. Your children’s safety is very important to all of us especially when they are at Church.

Sacrament classes are now closed. Registration for all other classes is ongoing through the year. Catholic School students needing Sacrament Preparation may sign up for second or third grade in January of 2016. They only need to attend the second semester.

As always, if you have any questions, comments or con-cerns about Elementary Faith Formation, Sacrament Preparation (Elementary, Middle or High School) or Adult Confirmation, please contact me at [email protected] or call me at the Parish Office, 480-661-9843 Ext. 309.

God’s Blessings, Kathie

From November 15-21, 2015, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops invites families, parishes, schools, and other Catholic groups to participate in National Bible Week in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Second Vatican Council Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, Dei Ver-bum. This year’s theme, “The Bible: A Book for the Family,” builds on this year’s Synod of Bishops on the Family and Pope Francis’s recent visit to Philadelphia for the World Meet-ing of Families.

TURKEY TUESDAY NOVEMBER 24 Each year on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the St. Vincent de Paul Society collects frozen turkeys at mar-kets throughout the Valley to replenish the pantry at the down-town St. Vincent de Paul dining facility. The turkeys collected on this one day number in the thousands and help the St. Vincent de Paul Society feed hungry people throughout the year. Our parish conference will be at the Bashas’ Market on the corner of Thompson Peak Pkwy. & Bell Rd. to collect frozen turkeys on Tuesday, November 24. Please consider buying an extra turkey this holiday to help in our efforts to keep the pantries full.

Thank you for your generosity.
