Blessing of Veterans
There are so many veterans in our county now. It used to be that veterans were a small contingency in our communities. It did not take that much effort to care for and, once a year, thank them. Now, however, with so many wars in violent parts of the world, there are more veterans than we can compassionately care for. There are many men and women who come back from the service who are wounded for life, either physically, mentally, or emotionally.
On this Veterans Day, let us remember those who have served our country, but more than remember, let us redouble our efforts to care for those still with us. Let us pray...
Good and gracious God, you do not condone war.
Help us to understand the cause of war and work toward alleviating it from the face of the earth you created.
We ask you to bless the veterans of our country, but also to bless the veterans of our enemies too. War is the ultimate failure on our part to see the needs of our neighbor.
Let us remember that our neighbor is our brother.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, our brother and Savior.
Amen.

Please welcome and pray for our new SET Coordinator at
the Diocese, Maria Escareega! There is a new Website for
Safe Environment. You can still access the old site
safeenvironmenttraining.org and it will take you to the new
site phoenix.setanet.org it is not compatible with Internet Explorer; you
must use Chrome, Firefox or Safari to view the videos. If you have
received an email that says you need to renew just follow the link and
renew your training online. Everyone who serves in ministry will need to
be compliant with their training by December 31st. If you are new to
ministry and not taken the foundation class, “Keeping the Promise Alive”
you need to go to the website phoenix.setanet.org and click on “register
for classes” and find the class called “Keeping the Promise Alive” at
another parish and register and attend that class. You can download the
paperwork and complete and return to me, after you have attended the
class. Your training is not complete until I have the paperwork on file. If
you have any questions concerning Safe Environment Training please call
Kathie at the Parish Office 480-661-9843 ex 309. I am the Safe
Environment Coordinator at St. Bernard’s.
I want to thank everyone who contributed to our 2018 Gala. It was a smashing success as we raised more money for Aid to Women Center at this Gala than at the last two Galas combined. I wanted to especially thank the table sponsors and underwriters - in particular, Solidarity Health Share. Solidarity is an alternative to traditional health insurance. It’s simple, affordable, and guided by the moral teachings of the Catholic Church. It allows you and your family to get the care you need to stay healthy.
For more details go to solidarityhealthshare.org.
Again, thank you for making our 2018 Gala a success - for your financial support and prayers.
