JOIN ARMY MEDICAL CORPSAS SHORT SERVICE COMMISSIONED (SSC) OFFICER

FOR A PROMISING AND CHALLENGING CAREER : 2013Applications are invited from Indian citizens both male and female, who have passed their final MBBS examination

in first or second attempt and completed internship for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army MedicalCorps. Applicants who have taken more than two chances in final MBBS Examination need not apply. VACANCIES: 200 QUALIFICATION: The applicant must possess medical

qualification included in First/Second Schedule or Part IIof the Third Schedule of IMC Act 1956. The applicantmust have permanent registration from any State MedicalCouncil/MCI. Post graduate degree holders i.e. MD/MS/MCh/DM may also apply.Note : Candidates who will be completing internshipby 31 Mar 2013 may also apply.

AGE LIMIT: The candidate must not have attained 45years of age on 31 Dec 2013.

METHOD OF SELECTION: Eligible candidates will becalled for interview by a Board of Officers in the monthof April-May at Army Hospital (Research &Referral) NewDelhi near Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Cantt. to assess theirsuitability and merit for grant of Short ServiceCommission in the Armed Forces Medical Services. Thecandidates appearing for interview for the firsttime willbe paid to and fro sleeper-class railway/bus fare.

EMPLOYABILITY: Being a Medical officer of ArmedForces Medical Services, the candidate on grant ofcommission is liable to be employed as per servicerequirement in any part of country or abroad, in Army,Navy or Air Force. They may have to work independentlyin the units allotted to them.

EMOLUMENTS: Doctors on commissioning in theArmed Forces Medical Services will be granted the rankof Captain (or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force) in thescale of Rs.17160-39100 plus Grade pay Rs 6100/- plusMilitary Service Pay (MSP) Rs 6000/-, Non-practicingallowance at the rate of 25% of the Basic Pay (Pay +Grade Pay + MSP) and Dearness Allowance (totalemolument at minimum of Pay Scale at the time of joiningwill be approximately Rs.70000/- pm). In addition, entitledfree ration, subsidized accommodation and alliedfacilities shall be provided. PG degree holder will beeligible for PG allowance of Rs 1000/- p.m. or specialistpay after undergoing the laid down procedure. In addition,officers are entitled to 60 days Annual Leave & 20 daysCasual Leave in a year, Leave Travel Concession (LTC),free Medical Services for self & family includingdependent parents, Group Insurance of Rs 40 lakhs &Canteen Store Depot (CSD) facility etc.

PROMOTION FOR SSC OFFICER: SSC officers arecommissioned as Capt on entry and are eligible forpromotion upto the rank of Major (or equivalent rank inNavy/ Air Force) after four years of service as Captand Lt Col (or equivalent rank in Navy, Air Force) aftera total service of 11 years. A candidate who holdsadditional medical qualification of Post-GraduateDegree/Diploma (MCI recognized) prior to joining willbe given antedate of seniority for three/two yearsrespectively as per rules.

TENURE: For Fresh Candidates: The tenure of SSC officers is of

05 years, extendable by another 09 years in two spellsfirst of 05 years and second of 04 years, for those whoare willing to continue, subject to laid down eligibilitycriteria.

For Ex AMC candidates:- Candidates released from AMC service on expiry of initial

contractual period of five years will only be consideredfor grant of recommission in AMC for second tenure.

Candidates released after expiry of 10 years of SSCservice will not be considered for grant of recommissionin AMC for second spell of four years of extendabletenure. Note: Candidates already released from AMCservice on resignation/ premature retirement willnot be considered for recommission in AMC.

PERMANENT COMMISSION: On completion of 2 years service, SSC officers may

apply for Departmental Permanent Commission asper existing rules and subject to fulfilling all theeligibility conditions as amended from time to timeprovided they have not attained the age as indicatedbelow: -

(i) MBBS - 30 years as on 31 Dec of the year ofapplication for Departmental PermanentCommission.

(ii) Diploma - 31 years as on 31 Dec of the year ofapplication for Departmental Permanent Commission.

(iii) Post Graduate - 35 years as on 31 Dec of the year ofapplication for Departmental Permanent Commission.

Selection of SSC officers for grant of DepartmentalPermanent Commission is decided by a SelectionBoard duly constituted in the office of DGAFMS afterholding interview of eligible SSC officers. The grant of

Departmental Permanent Commission will be subjectto availability of vacancies .
