ABOUT

INNOVATION SHOWCASE is a platform that brings together events andactivities related to innovation across disciplines, specializing in education andfocusing on educators, students, researchers, scholars, and innovators.  In additionto educating innovative minds, this program aims at enlivening the culture ofinnovation and exposing the opportunities of commercialization of innovativeproducts as well as potential interfaculty collaborations, and with the industry andsociety. The Innovation Showcase @ FPP is a yearly event that started in 2015 andhas since up-scaled to a faculty, and university level event last year. The theme forInnovation Showcase this year is “Illuminate – Innovate - Inspire”.

2019

The objectives of Innovation Showcase 2019 are to i) inculcateinnovation culture among instructors and learners; ii) provide exposure,and encourage the audience to protect their intellectual property; iii)identify potential candidates to represent the faculty for innovationcompetitions at the university, national or international level fosternetworking among the exhibitors, participants and visitors; iv) showcasethe activities of the faculty and highlight its eminence to the audience;and v) follow through the global sustainable development goals  toachieve quality education and promote lifelong learning (Track 4), andto promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation (Track 11).

It is our hope that this Innovation Showcase program willenlighten the spirit of innovators to serve the world withthe prior knowledge they have and make the world abetter place to live for the upcoming generations, and alsoinspire people to involved in upgrading the current systemand technology.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

With great pleasure, I welcome the participants of the InnovationShowcase 2019. Thank you all for giving us support since 2015. Everyonce in a while, a new technology, an old problem and a big idea turninto an innovation. But, to push innovation forward, and equallyimportant, to do so in a sustainable way, we have to think beyond whatwe know. In other words, we need to look beyond the constraints of ourown domain of expertise, combining knowledge from different angles inan interdisciplinary approach. Hence, Faculty of Educational Studies,UPM has organized Innovation Showcase building a platform thatbrings together events and activities related to innovation acrossdisciplines, specializing in education and focusing on educators,students, researchers, scholars, and innovators.

The theme for Innovation Showcase this year is “Illuminate –Innovate - Inspire”.

Apart from showcasing the activities of the facultyand highlight its eminence to the audience, webelieve this event provides a platform to identifypotential candidates to represent the faculty forinnovation competitions at the university, national orinternational level.

The Innovation Showcase also inculcate innovationculture among instructors and learners. We hopethat this could foster networking among theexhibitors, participants, and visitors; thus bringingmore new ideas for innovation in the future.

By promoting the participants from various levels and backgrounds,we are emphasizing on the lifelong learning aptitude among theparticipants and also to impel the desire to seek knowledge no matterin which they are and in which age category they are. ProphetMuhammad has confessed that whoever follows a path in the pursuitof knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. Thus,learning and igniting the fire in one to seek knowledge is consideredas a noble deed that overcomes the ignorance in people. I sincerelyappreciate all participants from various institutions and wish a mostsplendid day and pleasurable engagement.

Welcome to all participants of Innovation Showcase!

Changes call for innovation, and innovation leads to progress. To beginwith, I would like to share a brief history of Innovation Showcase andhow  it has transformed and evolved for the past three years. InnovationShowcase was inaugurated in 2016 as a platform for EducationalTechnology students to display their projects through exhibition andposter presentation.

Beginning last year, it has been expanded and up-scaled with  the intention of cultivating innovativeculture among faculty members and students.  As Neildegrasse Tyson puts it, “Once you have an innovationculture, even those who are not scientists or engineers– poets, actors, journalists - they, as communities,embrace the meaning of what it is to be scientificallyliterate. They embrace the concept of an innovationculture. They vote in ways that promote it. They don'tfight science and they don't fight technology.”

came up with a brilliant solution – Jari Tajwid, the innovation justkicked-off and took flight and is now commercialized worldwide. Learnalso the basic rules of tajwid through the Jari Tajwid kit – the easy, fun

The competition is hoped to spark interests amongstudents innovators, which can lead to interest in advance coursessuch as computer programming, network engineering, roboticengineering, instrumentations and many more subject-matters incolleges and universities. What is modified games? The idea of modified games is to encourageparticipation among those involved regardless of their individual abilities.The games will be stationed at four stations of modified games: hockeydrills, ‘sepak bulu ayam’, tennis ball dribble and hula hoop skip. Whileemphasis is placed on the tactical rules of the game, technical factorstend to be less important. Generally, modified games are governed by aset of initial rules, but as the game progresses, different changes can bemade according to the overall picture. The competition will be held inpairs to motivate each contenders to finish in two minutes.
