Bible StoryDaniel 6 “Daniel Faces the Lions”
Group Activity Time
Craft TimeGroup Activity Time provides an active learning experience to review lesson concepts.
Option #1LION FINGERPLAYHave the children sit in a circle. Teach them the following fingerplay with motions. Say together a few times and then insert different children’s names in place of Lyle and Len. Two big lions sitting in a den (hold up both fists) One named Lyle, the other named Len (bend one fist then the other) Roar away Lyle, roar away Len (Hide fist behind back) Come back Lyle, come back Len (hold up both fists in front again) Say: Daniel was in the den with the lions. Daniel was brave because God was with him. We can be brave too, because God is with us.
Option #2MUSICAL LIONSHave the children stand in different parts of the room. Start some music and have them act like lions - roaring, crawling, growling. When the music stops, the children must freeze. Start and stop the music as desired.
Say: Daniel was in the den with the lions. Daniel was brave because God was with him. We can be brave too, because God is with us.
Option #3LION, LION, DANIEL Have kids sit in a circle. Choose one child to be “it”. This game is played just like “duck, duck, goose” except with the words “lion, lion, Daniel”. If a child gets tagged, they go into the lion’s den (mush pot) until the next turn. Have them roar like a lion when they get out.
Say: There were lots of lions in the den and only one Daniel, but Daniel was brave because God was with him. We can be brave too, because God is with us.
Supplies Needed:
• Cardstock• Crayons or markers• Uncooked rotini noodles• Glue• Optional: For colored noodles, add a few drops of orange or yellow food coloring to 2 cups of white vinegar. Add noodles and allow to soak for one hour. Remove and dry overnight on paper towels.
Directions:
1. Before class, copy the craft page onto cardstock.2. Have the children color the lion face and then glue the noodles
onto the mane.3. When doing a craft involving glue, consider giving children
small portions of glue in disposable cups with a paintbrush or craft stick for spreading. This will help to control the amount of glue that ends up on the page.
