A pilgrim in Plymouth Mass. So, the Thanksgiving Holiday has a special meaning to us. I would like to thank Don, Bill and Linda for their efforts this year. I would also like to thank all the other members who have stepped up and served on a committee or assisted in an event. It`s that participation that makes the LHMAC such a great organization. Without those members making it happen we are just a bunch of folks going to a field. So, Thanks. I would also like to give thanks to the club fellowship and all the great friends we have made. Nov 6th (Friday) is the banquet at Disalvo`s Station in Latrobe. For those who have sent me the rsvp`s thank you. I am sure you will like the setting and the company. Dinner is scheduled to be served around 7:00 or a little after. I look forward to seeing you there. I encourage all the club members to visit the airplane museum in Latrobe. We are working with them to display some RC Airplane artifacts, models, and LHMAC history. The LHMAC IS a part of local aviation history. Many young people have learned many skills in the art of woodcraft, engineering- how to assemble a system, learn about flight, and for some move into a career in aviation. We are looking for members who have a quality scale model and who would like to have on display in the museum to let the Historic committee know: they are Dean, Rene, and Fred. Let us know what you have, condition, and if you have any club memorabilia that would be of merit. Old engines, advertising, etc. are other items of interest.

He hadsurgery last Friday and has since moved to the RNCRehab Center of Pittsburgh, at 890 Weatherwood

Lane, Greensburg, PA 15601, Room 311B. Hewould love to have you visit him. The Treasurer’sreport was approved as given by Treasurer LindaPollock. Vice President Bill Cecchetti, Sr.,announced the raffle prize: a Dromida OminusQuadcopter with charger and extra props.Newsletter Editor Linda Pollock reported thateverything is still OK with the newsletter. Pleasecontinue sending her news of your new projectsand other activities, and include pictures ifpossible. You can e-mail them to her atnneewwsslleetttteerr@@llhhmmaacc..oorrgg . Please send pictures in.jpeg format, not .pdf. Field Control/Safety OfficerTim Bartlow reported that the field is in goodcondition, and the new workbench looks great. Hethanked Mike Bossick for building it, all who helpedto install it and Dean Pollock for coating it withstain. He also asked everyone to observe thesafety line in front of the pilot stations, which henewly painted. President Morgan reported that thewebsite is up and running and up to date.OOlldd BBuussiinneessss::(a) Awards Banquet: Friday, November 6th at 7:00PM at DiSalvo's Station. It will be buffet style. Themenu will be similar to that of last year's 50thanniversary. The cost will be approximately $26.00per person. We will need to RSVP with paymentprior to the event, as we did last year. Checksshould be made out to Ron Morgan.(b) Airport Agreement: President Morgan reported

that he had spoken with the airport authorityregarding the AMA's request that we have a writtenagreement with them. According to Section 336 ofthe FAA Reform Act of 2012, we only need to givethem notice of our operation. The airport is OK witha verbal agreement but is not ready for a writtenagreement until the FAA makes a final ruling on theissue. President Morgan spoke with the AMA andthey are satisfied that we have notified the airportand participate in displays with the airportauthority.(c) Future Airshows: The previously tabled motionto NOT participate in future Latrobe airshows wasrevisited. During the discussion, opposition to themotion emphasized that the airshow has been ourbiggest means of public exposure, and thereforewe should try to continue participating in it. It wassuggested that we need to work with the airport onbetter logistics and location for more and betterexposure, and easier access for bringing ourairplanes in and out. The original motion was thenvoted down. It was then decided to wait until closerto the next airshow to decide whether or not tocontinue participation in future airshows, with theintent to be more proactive in the planning. However, there is some concern that we may notbe invited again because of possible competitionfrom other clubs.(d) 2016 Dues: After some discussion, a motionwas passed to keep the 2016 duesthe same as for 2015.(e) 2016 Dues Form: At the requestof President Morgan, provision for

members have from years past. The museum has amovie theater and our history could be shared inthat setting. Please let us know as quickly aspossible so we can get working on some displayarrangements. I believe the museum will be a goodpartner for us in this regard. As we enter the winterseason it`s a good time to work on getting this offthe ground.

During our last meeting we auctioned off someitems raising several hundred dollars. Thoseproceeds were voted to be earmarked towardsmaterial for the museum displays. Thanks to allthose generous purchases.

I have been working to secure an additional nightfor club members to gather at the Church. Thepurpose for this is to allow for further assembly, fellowship, and to be a workshop. Bring yourprojects to show off, items you need help with. Bringa new radio you need some guidance on or plans fora new project, learn more about covering you nameit. Pastor Werner has committed to the 3rd Sundayof November & December 2015 and January,February and March of 2016, for the additionalmeeting night requested. Starting time would be6:30 PM or later. Tim- a great idea.

As many of you know election time is here. Ibelieve we have some great candidates and theydeserve you vote. SO, Please cast your vote. Lindahas additional info attached.

Membership renewals are also due. MembershipDues amount for 2016 will remain the same. Pleasecomplete Your renewal as promptly as possible soDon can get your card ready and we can update theroster. Don`t forget your AMA it`s also that timeagain and only AMA cardholders are allowed to fly.

I was looking for another Sig Kadet LT40 formyself, and just happened to find one on E-Bay.I made my bid, and won the bid. The sellerwas in Philadelphia, PA, and did say he wouldship it. It is a kit built plane from an estate, and he built a crate, and bubble wrapped the

The flying day is pretty short now, sothe hours of 10:00 am to around 4:00 pm willbe the open window to fly. If weather permits, Ido hope that we continue to fly, and gettogether. We will also continue the Thurs “MallGang” from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the FoodCourt at Westmoreland Mall.

I FIRST STARTED READING THIS & WAS READINGFAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE. ISTOPPED AND STARTED OVER READING SLOWERAND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD. THIS IS VERYTHOUGHT PROVOKING. MAKES YOU STOP ANDTHINK. READ SLOWLY!AND THEN IT IS WINTERYou know ... time has a way of moving quickly andcatching you unaware of the passing years. It seemsjust yesterday that I was young, just married andembarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way,it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all theyears went. I know that I lived them all. I haveglimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopesand dreams. But, here it is... the back nine of my life and itcatches me by surprise...How did I get here so fast?Where did the years go and where did my youth go?I remember well seeing older people through the yearsand thinking that those older people were years awayfrom me and that I was only on the first hole and theback nine was so far off that I could not fathom it orimagine fully what it would be like. |But, here it is...my friends are retired and gettinggray...they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape thanme...but, I see the great change...Not like the ones thatI remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me,their age is beginning to show and we are now thoseolder folks that we used to see and never thought we'dbecome. Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a realtarget for the day! And taking a nap is not a treatanymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my ownfree will... I just fall asleep where I sit!And so...now I enter into this new season of my lifeunprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss ofstrength and ability to go and do things that I wish Ihad done but never did!! But, at least I know, thatthough I’m on the back nine, and I'm not sure how long

it will last...this I know, that when it's over on thisearth...it's over. A new adventure will begin! Yes, Ihave regrets. There are things I wish I hadn'tdone...things I should have done, but indeed, thereare many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in alifetime. So, if you're not on the back nine yet...let me remindyou, that it will be here faster than you think. So,whatever you would like to accomplish in your lifeplease do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!!Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as youcan never be sure whether you’re on the back nine ornot! You have no promise that you will see all the seasonsof your life...so, live for today and say all the thingsthat you want your loved ones to remember...and hopethat they appreciate and love you for all the thingsthat you have done for them in all the years past!!"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life isyour gift to those who come after. Make it a fantasticone. LIVE IT WELL! ENJOY TODAY! DO SOMETHINGFUN! BE HAPPY! HAVE A GREAT DAY! Remember"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of goldand silver. LIVE HAPPY IN EVERY DAY!LASTLY, CONSIDER THIS:~Your kids are becoming you......but yourgrandchildren are perfect!~Going out is good. Coming home is better!~You forget names.... But it's OK because somepeople forgot they even knew you!!!~You realize you're never going to be really good atanything like golf.~The things you used to care to do, you aren't asinterested in anymore, but you really do care that youaren't as interested.~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV 'ON'than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".~You miss the days when everything worked with justan "ON" and "OFF" switch..~You tend to use more 4 letter words ..."what?"..."when?"... ???~You notice everything they sell in stores is"sleeveless"?!!!~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.~Everybody whispers.~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 ofwhich you will never wear.~~~But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Oldmovies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!!Stay well, "OLD FRIEND!" Send this on to other "OldFriends!" and let them laugh in AGREEMENT!!! It'sNot What You Gather, But What You Scatter That TellsWhat Kind Of Life You Have Lived.TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN; YETTHE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THISDAY WHILE IT LASTSTHIS WAS SENT IN BY DENNY POLLOCK -THANKS DENNY!

The first flight with the Radian at the farm next tomy home showed my altitude reached 488' with thefirst 30sec climb. The subsequent climbs were 542',587', & the last was 673'. I have to say that theRadian looked quite small at the highest altitude, although the painting I has previously done with thebottom of the starboard wing flat black & the portwing white worked very well visually. I am verypleased with this unit as it had a 4.7/5 rating & userfeedback was very positive. There are (2) moreadvanced units, the AltimeterTwo & AltimeterThreethat have added features, although made forspecific applications & requirements. TheAltimeterOne is all one would need for the RCairplane arena that we participate in. Attached arepics of my setup in my Radian glider. I have a pieceof Velcro attached to my Jasco Flamingo so I canalso see how high I get it as it glides as good as myRadian.

DDeennnnyy PPoolllloocckk

Since I've really gotten into glider guiding, I found that estimating an altitude is very deceiving. Isearched the net for an altimeter that would give a direct readout without having to have a computerto download the data via USB connection. A Google search produced this altimeter on Amazon.comthat appeared to really fit my needs with size, weight, & data.

The AltimeterOne by Jolly Logic looked perfect as it had the capabilities to store 600 flights, altitudesto 29,500 feet, a weight of 9.9grams, & suitable for airplanes/gliders/sailplanes/hawks & falcons orrockets. Because of the air turbulence created with a heli/quad, readings may not be accurate since theunit operates using barometric pressure changes during flight. The physical size is 1.9" X .6" X .5" & itwould fit inside my Radian glider cockpit easily & securely with a piece of Velcro. "The unit is suppliedwith a short USB charging cable that is the same as any cellphone charger cable that plugs into yourcomputer's USB port. I also have my cellphone charger cable w/cig lighter plug that I use on my Jeep &charge the altimeter at the field in a couple minutes."
