With the further liſting of restricons from the State Government, this will mean that a number of events and acvies will be able to take place, or resume, in Term 3. This will include the holding of assemblies, incursions, excursions and various sporng events. This includes the staging of interschool events such as the athlecs carnival, which we will be hosng here at Dalmain. This is of course dependent upon COVID-19 remaining at its current very low levels of spread here in Western Australia. STUDENT REPORTS I would just like to remind parents that student reports, which will be forwarded home electronically next Wednesday, will look a lile different this semester. With the regular aendance of many students being lower over this me, the breadth and depth of the curriculum covered throughout semester one may have been reduced. For this reason, schools are not required to include A to E grades on this years semester one student reports for Pre-primary to Year 6. It also means that your childs wrien comments may provide less informaon on their progress than usual. However, I am confident that parents will sll find their childs report to be very informave and valuable. PA ASSEMBLY Yesterday our Year 6 leaders conducted our assembly over the school PA. The students included some special effects through the use of addional sound clips which certainly added to the presentaon of the awards. Congratulaons to all students who received a cerficate. ISSUE #19 26 June 2020

Dear Parents and Community Members,

After a very different Term 2, next term is starting to look as though it may be a lot closer to business as usual. With the further lifting of restrictions from the State Government, this will mean that a number of events and activities will be able to take place, or resume, in Term 3. This will include the holding of assemblies, incursions, excursions and various sporting events. This includes the staging of interschool events such as the athletics carnival, which we will be hosting here at Dalmain. This is of course dependent upon COVID-19 remaining at its current very low levels of spread here in Western Australia. STUDENT REPORTS I would just like to remind parents that student reports, which will be forwarded home electronically next Wednesday, will look a little different this semester. With the regular attendance of many students being lower over this time, the breadth and depth of the curriculum covered throughout semester one may have been reduced. For this reason, schools are not required to include A to E grades on this year’s semester one student reports for Pre-primary to Year 6. It also means that your child’s written comments may provide less information on their progress than usual. However, I am confident that parents will still find their child’s report to be very informative and valuable. PA ASSEMBLY Yesterday our Year 6 leaders conducted our assembly over the school PA. The students included some special effects through the use of additional sound clips which certainly added to the presentation of the awards. Congratulations to all students who received a certificate. Photos of the award winners are included in this newsletter.

THE GREAT BOOK SWAP Please support this great initiative by getting involved and promoting the enjoyment of books. This is something a little different that Mrs Melville, our school library officer, is busily planning for next term. This term we would normally have had the library book fair. However, this was not able to take place due to the pandemic. So instead a book swap for students is planned. Students simply need to bring along a book that is in ‘good’ condition next week that they are prepared to exchange for another book. To take part students are also to make a gold coin donation. The money collected will go towards the Indigenous Literacy Project. At this point students need only bring along their book to swap as the gold coin donation will be collected during the event next term. See inside for further details. P&C MEETING Our next P&C meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 1 July and will commence at 7.00pm in the staffroom. All parents are welcome to come along and join in. KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS Kindergarten applications for 2021 have been steadily coming into our school office. A reminder to parents of children entering Kindergarten next year that enrolments are required to be submitted by the end of week one of next term. Enjoy the weekend,

Don Boyes Principal

In lieu of the annual Book Fair, Dalmain Primary School will be holding a book swap in the library during Week 2 of Term 3 (27-29 July) in aid of the ‘Indigenous Literacy Project’ (ILP). The ILP raises funds to buy books and literary material for remote indigenous communities around Australia. Their goal for 2020 is to gift 35000 new, carefully chosen books to children who need them the most. In these uncertain times, organising an event might seem strange. However, “This program encourages social leadership, encouraging people to think outside their own environments. It’s one of the wonderful things about the Great Book Swap - it gives people agency and it is fantastic to see a young generation of socially aware individuals who are willing to contribute to society as a whole“ said Lachie Coman, ILF Youth Ambassador. The idea is that a book is swapped in exchange for a gold coin donation. If students, parents/carers and staff members would like to participate, please bring in a book, in good condition, to the library. The library will be open during Week 2 of Term 3 (27-29 July) before school, at lunchtime and after school for students to swap a book. Thanking you all in advance for your support with this fundraising event.
