SCHOOL BOARD Nominations for our school board closed on Monday afternoon. I am pleased to inform you that the following parents will be members of the school board for 2016 - Beth Weston, Nick Wood, Jon Laden-Wearne, Simon Clark, Bianca Galipo and Justin Burt. I am very much looking forward to working with our school board in the coming years and continuing to improve and move Dalmain Primary School forward. I thank all parent members for their commitment, time and effort towards achieving this. ASSEMBLY Cooor blimey the undercover area became a sea of pirates as the students and staff of PP2 hoisted the skull and crossbones flag to host the assembly. I am sure everyone was very proud of our little pirates as they performed their “Silly Pirate Song” and entertained us all. The costumes and props were simply outstanding and really did create a wonderful atmosphere. It was fantastic to see and hear how confident the students were. Congratulations to students, parents and PP2 staff members on a wonderful morning. Please see inside this newsletter for further details about award winners including scholarship winners and You Can Do It certificate awardees. LAPATHON There was lots of excitement this morning at assembly with the drawing of the lapathon prize winners. Congratulations to the Kummerow family who won the major prize sponsored by Care For Kids, a voucher to purchase a bike or similar. There were also many other prizes on offer and those lucky enough to have their name drawn had the enjoyable task of choosing a prize. A big thank you to Mrs Smith for coordinating all of this on behalf of the P&C. Thank you to Care For Kids for their support once again. Overall the lapathon raised just short of $5000. CHESS CLUB NEWS
Congratulations to our chess enthusiasts who travelled across to North Beach Primary yesterday to participate in a round robin chess afternoon. The games were keenly fought with many close results. In fact after the rounds were completed both schools finished tied

on 23.5 points each. Thank you to North Beach for being such wonderful hosts and to Mrs Melville for her organisation of this event. I would also like to acknowledge “Care For Kids” who kindly allowed us to use their buses for the afternoon as well as Mrs McIntyre who shared the couriering role. It was a very enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.
INTERSCHOOL CARNIVAL It looks as though we may be heading for a warmer week as we head into the final week of third term and our interschool athletics carnival. All events will be held here at Dalmain on Monday morning and all day Wednesday. Please see the programs available on the ‘recent notes’ section of the school website for further details. Good luck to all of our students who are competing. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen! Our P&C will be operating a coffee and tea stall as well as a sausage sizzle on the Wednesday. So please support these stalls on the day. Please note that our school canteen will not be open on Wednesday. All students will need to bring their own lunch. GREAT AUSSIE CRUNCH On Tuesday morning our whole school took part in the Great Aussie Crunch. In the end we managed to achieve a Crocodile Crunch which sounded awesome. This event is aimed at promoting WA kids to eat more vegetables. Thank you to Mrs Horrocks and Ms Allaway for their organisation of this event. WOOLWORTHS STICKERS Parents thank you for supporting our school with the collection of stickers over the past month or so. This competition has now finished and we need to collect and send off all of our stickers next week. Please send in any stickers that you may have at home by Monday. Enjoy your week,

P&C Music Quiz Night
Congratulations to all those members of the Dalmain community that came along to the hugely successful music quiz night last Saturday. The turn out of people was fantastic, and it was great to see so many people having a good time on the night. I would like to make mention and a large thanks to the number of Dalmain staff that supported the P&C and made the effort to be involved. Approximately $3000 was raised.
The night could not have been successful without the efforts of the P&C and in particular our Fundraising Coordinator Katie Jones who was instrumental in all aspects of the night. Finally, to all of those people (P&C committee members and others) who helped out in various capacities before, during and after the quiz a huge thanks. Three cheers for everyone! Round Robin
Yesterday, 23 students ranging from Year 3 to Year 6 participated in a Chess Round Robin at North Beach Primary School. Their behaviour, manners and sportsmanship were exemplary and I could not have been more proud of them. I also received some extremely positive feedback from teachers at North Beach PS who took the time to chat to our students whilst they were having afternoon tea. These students were a real credit to the school.
The overall score was a draw which was a fitting end to what was a very successful excursion.
